Progressive sounds of some big black slabs of plastic I spun back around 2001/02. This is Part 1 of 3 mixes I did around this time. Nice surprise to discover I had them. Hope you enjoy the series... another 2 to come!

Progressive Mix 01 of 03 [Early 2000's]

One of the most well-known DJ's in the world, famous for his tireless remix and production work, as well as his long-running association with fellow top-flight Sasha. Beginning DJ'ing in the early 1990's in the company of friends like Fabio and Grooverider, he began to champion the burgeoning progressive house sound, most notably with his residency at Renaissance with Sasha. His partnership with Nick Muir as Bedrock in the early 90's yielded the club hits "For What You Dream Of" and "Set In Stone", and the runaway popularity of his Bedrock Records record label was established with its first release, "Heaven Scent", in late 1999. John continues to remix and produce music while running the Bedrock Records label and a successful weekly radio show on KISS-100 FM in the UK.

Saturday 13th October sees the return of the club brand embedded into the folklore not only of Birmingham but of the planet itself; Renaissance. The second leg of the Twentieth Anniversary celebrations that began in both Birmingham and Leeds back at Easter, Renaissance has since had a successful season in Ibiza at Pacha and delivered a stunning showcase in St Georges Hall in Liverpool. However Gibb St remains its 2012 nerve centre.

With Sasha manning the first instalment only one name could even be considered for the second bout; John Digweed. Digweed made his name as a resident DJ with Renaissance and has since gone on to become one of the most iconic DJs in the history of the genre, consistently moving forward with great aplomb throughout the worlds of house and techno. Like Sasha before him he will be joined by a stunning cast of support DJs, Rekids head man, lover of re-edits Radio Slave and Swiss techno powerhouse Deetron.

This week's Local Selection mix comes via Berlin, as the Waterford native Bill Mango steps up with an hour of house, acid and breaks, fit for the dance floor.

Hailing from Ireland, Bill Mango has cut his teeth in Berlin. As a verified party starter, Bill quickly became a regular feature on line ups for the city's most esteemed parties.

Hollding down residencies in renowned clubs such as Chalet & Griessmuehle, the latter home to his beloved bi-monthly party Mango. Over the last year the youngster had played relentlessly prior to lockdown, weekend after weekend, alongside some of dance music's most well regarded artists including Shanti Celeste, Ben UFO, Kornél Kovács, Project Pablo, Or:la to name but a few.

"I recorded the mix back at the end of August. This mix definitely had the dancefloor in mind and best represents what I play out. House, Acid, Breaks, a dribble of UKG and a few wafters for good measure. I hope it shakes your arse as much as it shaked mine".
