For all those who don't know him yet: Besides a good taste for trash cucumbers in the beloved 80s horror movie section, this amigo from Berlino is one half of the resident DJ duo "Audio Vacanze" @slow-motion-records, organizes Synth & Italo Disco parties under the name of "Tech Noir" and proves his commitment to the fascination of early electronic music, by serving this fantastic Vinyl only blend of italo- & euro-disco, that offers you the right sound for an epic summer trip. A symbiotic match what we call "Vizio Celeste"! Flotonium, the stage is yours :-)

"I’m super happy to be part of the venerable Disco al Dente series, since Gonzo and his audience are like-minded enjoyers of quirky and wacky escapades from the spheres of Italo and all adjacent genres. I tried to compile a vinyl only mix with records that might not necessarily go well together at first glance, but I went all in to convey the joy of blending synthy and other sounds from all over the globe

For instance, you can’t help but have a huge ball blending an Australian edit of a kitsch synth jam from Austria of all places with Fusion-drenched City Pop from bubble economy age Japan. This is what I was going for, and I also did not hesitate to weave in songs with disco guitar, which is kind of my guilty pleasure. Coming from a Metal background, the acquired affinity to electric axe sounds is still lingering, but you will see that throwing them into the mix brings off some ace pizzazz. All in all, the overall focus is yet of course Italo, with some rareish and some hit jams arranged in harmony. Gonzo’s fav of the mix is an Euro Disco tune from Spain, and I’m thrilled to hear which one is yours!"

Hailing from Toronto Canada, Diana McNally aka Automaticamore aka the queen of Italo, comes in strong with an hour of carefully selected killer cuts - the energy bar that we all needed. With hundreds of live-streams flooding our news-feeds and new mix-series starting to come up during these challenging times, we leave it to Diana to finish off our weekly Quarantine series and return to fortnightly publications from now on.

In a way, her persona could not be more fitting, as she is not only an avid vinyl collector, but also works as a social worker at the Toronto Drop-in Network for homeless people. Diana is currently taking vacation days in order to work 12-14 hours on the frontlines of the pandemic, supporting and helping the most vulnerable ones - most of the times without proper protection, literally keeping people from dying. A reminder, perhaps, that even after 4 weeks of quarantine, the pandemic is still very much real. There are still people dying and in order to support frontline-workers like Diana or the fantastic National-Healthcare staff all over Europe, we must drink and dance to Italo-Disco *inside* our homes.
