This week, #tristetuesday heads to the tropics, where a vibrant gloom sweats beneath full moons, and even the palm trees have secret woes. “He Venido” showcases the filin (from the word feeling) movement of 1960s Cuban doo-wop masters, Los Zafiros.

Infusing bolero, calypso, bossa nova and North American elements of doo-wop and R&B, these crooners awaken hearts with lust and melancholy simultaneously. He Venido, “I have come”, describes powerful chronic yearning for a love unrequited, the most ancient and perhaps original strife humans have sung about.
