When producer-primates Ourang Keski-Pörhöläs and Outang Rogers met at the 2013 Pocari Sweat Music Academy (Kota Kinabulu Treble-Camp Edition), they were inspired to join forces as the all-analog improvisation duo Ourang-Outang. 

With their minds and synth skills amped on steady diets of Pocari Sweat, Ourang-Outang clobber their machines like morons unleashing maniacal acid basslines, rabid-fire drum-machine beats, samples from the jungles of Borneo, and their own hoots, grunts, chest beating, and banana eating. 

Their style first described as “Pocari acid sweat” by the Kota Kinabalu Gazette, Ourang-Outang are widely credited for the current craze of live electronic acts spraying audiences from bottles of Pocari Sweat hidden in their underpants. 

Refusing to be tamed by the studio, Ourang-Outang release only live, undomesticated recordings. 

Ourang-Outang’s feral on-stage presence is complemented by PowerPoint visuals that combine Ourang’s love for psychedelic ‘90s raver fractals and Outang’s collection of photographs of lemurs, bushbabies, tarsiers, marmosets, monkeys, and apes dressed in diapers.

What do we need? Drum machines, synths, effects and something to record them with. I'm using computer only to record my hardwares and doing a little mastering in the end.

What is Phantom Electric Ghost?  
Phantom Electric Ghost is an  electronic music band.  This band is my personal means of expressing sounds and concepts that have been within me for many years.  I am a Cancer survivor who overcame a level 3 Sarcoma in 1997.  This life altering experience prompted me to double down on writing music as a passion and serious pursuit.   Since then I have composed over 1700 compositions.

Why Phantom Electric Ghost?
Music is my passion I have been creating Expansive Sound Experiments instrumental soundscapes (Sound Paintings) since I was 16 years old. I started with a Casio CZ101 then I graduated to a Roland D5 Multi Timbral Synthesizer.  I used a Korg sequencer in combination with a Tascam 4 track recorder to create instrumental soundscapes. In the 2012 updated to a Roland Juno Gi with a digital audio recorder and utilized Sound Cloud to share my Expansive Sound Experiments with the world.   In 2016 I introduced vocals via my alter egos Josephine Electric and Phantom Electric Ghost. The soundscapes transitioned to EDM songs with vocals and song structures.  My band name is Phantom Electric Ghost which is subtle nod to Ray Bradury’s “I Sing the Body Electric”.   Ghosts in machines and the concept that spirits or phantoms are made of electricity are the philosophies behind the Phantom Electric Ghost band.
