<< a few weeks ago the crew at ADM kindly got me down to jungle tropics to perform a productions set, it was a welcome challenge to do something like this outside my living room (where my past productions mixes have been recorded), it was a really fun night, and I'm pretty satisfied with the recording °˖✧ >>

The spiritual leader of Geotact Records, semi-certified snare investigator and a production powerhouse. These are only a few things that can be said about Jack AKA Fiesta Soundsystem. A crisp, new-school sound, orientated on a broader spectrum is ultimately what makes his sound so special. Flawlessly mixing, electro, jungle, IDM and ambient as they are one.

For this mix, FS took it to the next level. It’s now even on a level that we can’t call this a mix anymore. This 2-hour-long listening experience is filled with classified gems and takes you on a journey into the digital unknown. Layers of sound stacking up and working their way towards an epic climax. 

This is one for the real connoisseurs.

Gremlinz & Jesta continue their reign of tyranny back on DROOGS with two cuts of spine chilling blacked out Jungalism.

“Drain Clog” floats lunar hums and distant transmissions above stuttered rufige hardstep, as seething reeces slither into a coil around the beats, saturating the atmosphere in menace.

“Helion” sees clattering breaks, beastly knocks and cascading snares tumbling down into a machine gun tribal march, punctuating the sustained frigid dread.

Who better to launch the new Samurai affiliate Jungle label Mindgames than the Future Retro general and Jungle machine Tim Reaper.

The two tracks on Tim's Mindgames 12" were the seed for the inception of the Mindgames label. Phonetics is unfiltered Amen Euphoria, with Tim's edits deftly embellishing the vocal earworm, while Changing Times wraps an ensemble of classic breaks around a pulsing b line.

Mindgames is a new Samurai Music affiliated label aiming to capture the essence of the sound that magnetised label head Presha into Jungle/Drum and Bass in the mid 90’s. Experiencing this musical development as it happened lit a flame of passion and drive that forged a focused musical path that continues unabated today.

94/95 were pivotal years for Jungle with new approaches to production and musical shades that shaped how the music progressed. Light and Dark musical hues were working side by side more frequently in these years as the music found its way, and Mindgames will reflect this.

With the resurgence of artists absorbing this sound and creating updated versions with added production finesse, Mindgames mission is to enlist current-day producers who have successfully captured and reimagined the vibe and feel of these years into new forms that underline the foundation of our sound.

Break Cycle marks Fly By Night’s third release of 2020 with a heavy fusion of breaks & electro from up-and-coming artist Tom Place in a 3-track EP. Following his releases on Bade Records and Aloka’s Typeless, this year has marked an emergence for Tom as he further embellishes his recognisable brand of techno inspired electro. The EPs opener, Eight Five, is a heavy-hitting electro track featuring a rolling drum beat and an instantly recognisable vocal echoing throughout its’ inner realms. Followed up by its’ more spacey counterpart Break Cycle, a track which builds tension perfectly and exactly surmises what makes Tom’s production so exciting to listen out for right now. Featuring heavy UK bass influences, this track really doesn’t belong in a world where vibrating soundsystems can’t pulse out its’ unrelenting bassline. The EP is wrapped up with the genre-defying Transients, a floaty, emotional track, which serves as a reminder to Tom’s dubstep roots, while still remaining indistinctively electro. Break Cycle embodies a perfect summary of the direction Fly By Night are pushing into as a label, at the start of a busy period of more things to come from both the artist and label.
