Indonesian based solo artist, into jazz, ska, pop.

Dr. James M. Dorsey is a senior fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, co-director of the University of Würzburg’s Institute for Fan Culture, and co-host of the New Books in Middle Eastern Studies podcast. James is the author of The Turbulent World of Middle East Soccer blog, a book with the same title as well as Comparative Political Transitions between Southeast Asia and the Middle East and North Africa, co-authored with Dr. Teresita Cruz-Del Rosario and  Shifting Sands, Essays on Sports and Politics in the Middle East and North Africa.

In medio 2006, a band was formed by four musicians to accompany the vocalist—Bonita—in  her live performances. Through the course of time, the band shrink into three members (Bonita, Adoy, and Bharata), but the musical and interpersonal bond between them grew more intense. Later the band decided to play not only Bonita’s songs but also do cover songs and their own composition as well. They decided to named the band as bonita and the hus BAND (BNTHB).
 
This three-member-band first international stage happened on April 2009 on Outdoor Theater, Esplanade, Singapore. They were invited to play on an event called “On the Waterfront.” BNTHB’s first performance in Singapore receives a very warm response from the Singapore audience. Their CD titled “volume-1 BNTHB” was sold out during their three days performance.
 
On May 2009, Jimmy Tobing joined BNTHB. His presence made BNTHB became more solid. With diverse musical experience between them, each member of BNTHB enriched their musical skills by working together in BNTHB. Bonita with her soulful singing skill and her total singing expression; Adoy with his tight and percussive style rhythm guitar; Bharata with his solid and singing-like percussion style; Jimmy with his eclectic style in playing the saxophone made this acoustic quartet sounds “total, powerful, merry, and fun” in their live performances. BNTHB conveys a thick acoustic, soul, folk and R&B mood in their music every time they step on stage.
 
Through out the years BNTHB receives positive response by the audience. The band also got offered to performed in culture and art events, corporate events, and other entertainment events.
On March 2010, BNTHB performed in Mosaic Music Festival 2010, an international music festival held in Esplanade, Singapore. At the end of 2010, BNTHB performed in Bonita solo concert titled “Terimakasih” in Salihara Theater, and on February 2012, BNTHB held their own concert titled “small miracles” in Grha Bakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta. The concert drew a lot attention and received a very warm response from the audience.  The concert was covered by a lot of media and received good reviews.
 
At the present time, BNTHB is in the process of finishing up their first album titled “small miracles” due to be released early 2014.
