Janine "Jah9" Cunningham

Old school blues improvisation meets hard hitting lyrical prowess in a rich imaginative blend of vocal clarity and complexity. Janine brings her refreshing mix of contemporary and conscious poetry to the stage and delivers a mature, sophisticated style with a unique and captivating energy all of her own. Her musical influences range from Billie Holiday and Nina Simone to Augustus Pablo and Sizzla Kalonji. 

As a singer/songwriter/activist, Janine touches on issues ranging from social injustice, violence, politics and gender to intimate matters of the heart, mind and spirit. Janine a.k.a. ‘Jah9’ has emerged from the underground poetry/live music scene relatively unknown and has earned the hearts and respect of her peers and audiences with each encounter since. 

Over the past 5 years she has been consistently and impressively making her mark on the Jamaican musical landscape, inspiring audiences and musicians alike through her songs and the live productions she has conceptualized and staged. She is now poised for heavy rotation due to her signature sound and collaborations with ace producers including Donovan Bennett of Corleon Records, Sheldon Bernard and Beres Hammond of Harmony House Music, and on her highly anticipated debut album project with Rory "Stonelove" Gilligan. The album is slated for release on February 26, 2013 but Jah9 is already in demand as a songwriter and creative director of repute. 

'Jazz on Dub’ is the sound she has created - a mix of her two favourite music forms, while infusing all expressions of the arts into her live performances. She intends to take her word sounds to the world, entertaining and inspiring all along the way. This young woman is full to the brim and pouring her heart out.


BIBLICAL BIOGRAPHY
"Jah music is the iniversal language, come to break down the barriers & build up more bridge". Biblical, a cultural chanter/sing jay whose unique style has been catching the ears of many, was raised in northern California with a strong love for reggae music. Music played regularly in the house, like food for the soul, he grew up listening to all genres. Starting with artists like Bob Marley & The Wailers, Musical Youth, & Yellowman, the seeds of Rastafari & roots music were planted deep in his heart from a young age.

February 14th, 2014 brings forth his 8th album: Hold Firm Natty, recorded in Jamaica, produced by Andrew "Bassie" Campbell & featuring legendary musicians such as Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, & Squidly Cole and more. The project also features songs with Jamaican singers Derajah, Doniki, Louie Culture, Lucozade, & Steve Tolluch alongside Biblical. Hold Firm Natty is set to be released on VP/Andrew Bassie Records 2/14/14. 

As a cultural sing jay, Biblical embodies the fullness of a singer while blending chanting and poetic lyrics into one unique style. Biblical is also a producer, & the co-founder of Oneness-sound, an artistic collaborative.

He has performed live over the past ten years all over the Northwest USA, Hawaii, and toured with the We ah Dem band, Lionz of Kush from St. Croix, & in Jamaica as part of the Gather the Remnant album release tour (Conscious Riddims Records/Andrew Bassie Records) alongside Ras Iba, Xkaliba, Niyorah, and Roots Gwaan.

Live in concert, Biblical connects with the hearts of many with his rootsy energy, and clean inspiring vibrations. He brings an empowering stage presence, visionary lyrics and a militant original style all firmly livicated to His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I and betterment of I n I livity. Biblical's lyrics carry ones on a journey of upliftment, reflection, and affirmation, while the riddims penetrate deep within from start to finish. 
In addition to recording & producing, he also co-wrote & performed with Vaughn Benjamin of MIDNITE, & Ancient King on “Good Ova Evil” on 2008’s Jah Infinite (Higher Bound Productions) album, as well as  “Hit on All Sides” on the  New Name album (Higher Bound Productions). 
His works continually evolve in the spirit of oneness as new collaborations come forward with artists & producers from the Virgin Islands, Brazil, Russia, & more.

BIBLICAL DISCOGRAPHY

His highly anticipated debut album Inborn Precepts(HigherBound Productions) was released in 2007 to great praise. His vocal delivery is strikingly unique with chanting rhythmic verses and melodic choruses. Songs like “Jah is My Light” and “Let Luv in” are uplifting, lyrically penetrating and catchy. “Jah Works”, the opening song of the album, suggests the vision deep within the roots and message of the music.


Biblical’s next two albums, Live By Your Strength and Jah Infinite were released in 2008. Teaming up with different producers and labels makes each new work a unique experience for the listening ear. A reviewer on Reggaereviews.com wrote:
“Biblical, one of the more promising new artists of 2007, follows up his debut with this strong set that brings back his unique brand of roots driven by fierce hip-hop-inspired beats…From the huge drum and bass of “Learning” to the funk of "Kanchas" (pronounced "conscious") to the bouncy chant of "Remedy (Real Medi)" to the old school flavor of "Immanence," Live by Your Strength is a striking statement that a sophomore slump isn't in the cards for cultural sing-jay Biblical.”


Biblical is also featured on a number of reggae compilations released in 2007+2008: New Name(HigherBound Productions), & Gather the Remnant(AndrewBassie Records/Conscious Riddims Records).
2009 brought the release of Healing Stream- Biblical’s fourth album, on the Trinity Farm Label. With many more musical projects on the horizon, Biblical released his fifth album-Naturally, in 2010, on the Natural Order Music label, a very unique production with some hard and heavy hip-hop beats.


In 2011, a next album was released titled Fullfilament, a collaborative work amongst Groundbreaking Records, Trinity Farm, and Rally-Up productions. This project features works created over a four year period with some of the first riddims ever produced by Biblical and Trinity Farm Music.

2012 yielded the album Aya Time: Biblical & Million 7, featuring magnificent instrumentation and live horns with vocals and lyrics straight to the head and heart. 
Biblical continues coming forward with positive words, sound, and powers reaching out to the masses and generations, to know, and be your true self. With heavy influence from Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, and Midnite, Tribal Seeds brings a refreshing rock vibe to the roots style, reggae music. Spiritually driven and musically talented, Tribal Seeds have created an art form for rebel music enthusiasts!
