This collaboration between one of Hollands most influential techno DJ/producers - Michel de Hey - and Amsterdam's highly original Rauwkost, is an incredibly exciting meeting of creative minds. The end results - Julienzzz flying high on a deep throbbing techno backbone overlaid with hypnotic melody flourishes, and the counterbalancing Gibsome taking on a more laidback, deeply groovy warmness and heartfelt, soulful, spiritual vibe - are nothing short of extraordinarily superb. 

The creator of some of the freshest sounds in techno music in recent years, fellow Dutchman, Ramon Tapia, is also on fire here. For his remix of Julienzzz, a teasing percussive intro leads into a monstrous, infectious, booming groove that is sure to cause chaos all summer long. Italy is also strongly represented here by the super-hot production duo - Paolo Martini & Paul C, who never fail to impress. Their catchy and bouncy techno remix style rides high on a rhythm that has the groove and swing factor turned up to the max.

Hitting the virtual shelves in October 2018, Rauchhaus and his sparkling "Opal" provided another beautiful melodic moment on Proton Music. With a release of its own on Particles, the original is now reprised alongside remixes from Canadian, Dutch and Polish talents.

Paul Hazendonk and Dustin Nantais are hugely respected names within the underground dance scene. Both individually renowned for a wealth of releases on a series of blue-chip imprints, Dutch star, Hazendonk has found himself at the vanguard of dance music for well over a decade from his Rotterdam home. Owner of the globally renowned Manual Music and MNL imprints, a roster that includes, Henry Saiz, Eelke Kleijn and Umek have kept Hazendonk at the epicentre of a world stage. A producer with almost 400 production credits, his own music has found its way onto the likes of Natura Viva, ICONYC, and Black Hole. Similarly, Dustin Nantais finds himself at the forefront of the Toronto DJ scene with performances across his home city. A sparkling production career has seen plethora of high-profile releases hit the likes of Where The Heart Is, Perspectives Digital and Particles, over a 5-year reign at underground music's top table. Joining forces, Hazendonk and Nantais have had a series of high-profile collaborative releases with stops on BluFin, Einmusika and Proton Music as they now make their Particles debut with a typically scintillating remix. Creating a beautifully crafted melodic affair, a strong bassline and ticking percussion provide the foundation for a clever us of Rauschhaus' components to create a track that revels in pulsating pads and sparkling riff. Hitting its stride post-breakdown, a strong combination of groove, melody and vocals provide a striking new interpretation of "Opal".

From Zawiercie in the central-south of the country, Rafa'EL has been creating electronic music for over a decade. With a passion for "deep house, progressive and tribal", the Polish artist has crafted a distinctive style with his popular "Infusion" show on Proton Radio. Simultaneously, an ever-evolving production career has found Rafa'EL with almost a double century of production credits to his name after a debut for Usessions Records in April 2013. Going on to feature heavily for fellow countryman, Tuxedo and his Electronic Tree imprint, Rafael has also been a regular on Sonic Union's Lowbit, Gai Barone's Afterglow and the iconic Balkan Connection. Making his mark on Particles in 2018, the four-track "Twin Flames" saw two original tracks supported by remixes from Izzet and E.F.G. in June, as he now returns to the label. Remixing "Opal", the Rafa'EL interpretation immediately identifies itself with Rauschhaus' original as familiar melodic themes are played out above a strong beat and dancefloor-friendly groove. Building in elegant fashion, new melodic phrases emerge with shimmering motif and reversed phrases making an innovative statement. Driving forwards in the third movement the combination of additional productional material with original components has created a rich and impressive new version.

Remixes from Nantais and Hazendonk and Rafa'EL have kept Rauchhaus and his "Opal" glistening firmly in the spotlight.

Opal (Rafa'EL Remix)

Number eighteen on San Francisco’s Manjumasi showcases a pair of deep, groovy productions from the Miami-based Postrel brothers, m.O.N.R.O.E. + Adisyn. The title track “Acid Mating Call” is a deep, seductive tune with an absolutely hypnotic melody. Despite the soft and gentle tone, this one is irresistible on the dance floor. Next up is “Terminal Bliss,” which showcases the darker side of this duo’s sound, with a more melancholic groove punctuated by deep chords, with a mystical melody that floats off in the distance, alluring but just out of focus.

The first remix comes from UK veteran producer Martin Iveson aka Atjazz. His “Galaxy Aart Remix” of Terminal Bliss is an incredibly lush and ethereal take on the original. Galaxy describes the tone of this remix well, with a super spaced-out vibe and a wide soundfield that washes over the listener. Luscious percussion fills out the mix, with a simple but beautiful vocal hook anchoring the humanity of this mix.

Rounding out the package is a remix of Acid Mating Call from Ultrastation, the new techno collaboration between Cosmic Force and Nuno Dos Santos. Their remix puts the Acid in this Mating Call, a late-night techno stomper with swirling dubbed-out reverbs and delays layered over staccato synth stabs, and a trippy synth breakdown that breaks into pieces just before returning to a potent, powerful groove.

m.O.N.R.O.E. + Adisyn - Terminal Bliss

A new artist to enter the Particles catalogue, Chihaka makes his EP debut with the striking "Nyarara". Remixes come courtesy of an Indian newcomer and a Mexican stalwart.

Making his Particles debut via a notable reworking of Aeikus' "Juno" in September 2019, Michael Chihaka continues his relationship with the label through a stunning original triptych. An immaculately crafted affair, the title track shimmers in percussive energy while a plucked arpeggio sits easily across the upper frequency range as subtle piano chords generate emotive nostalgia and rare beauty that opens up at the mid-point. Building with ease, the track erupts into the third movement with a glorious new melodic sequence built upon the earlier arpeggio. "The Awakening" continues the rich melodic characteristics of its predecessor with sublime piano chords acting as a centrepiece for strong beat and dynamic hi-hat groove to carry the track forwards. A grooved pluck adds further, filtered intrigue in a track of untainted vision. Final track, "Kurohwa", is built upon a wonderfully constructed bassline groove as offbeat open-hat percussion and melodic components wax and wane with mesmerising results. A grooved synth sequence ties in seamlessly with the dynamic rhythmic cadence as reverse-reverb piano add texture and emotion in an immaculately crafted affair.

From the ‘Silicon Valley of India', Rayomand is another new name to the Particles roster. An accomplished musician, proficient in piano, violin and guitar, the Bangalore resident has continued to flourish. After releases on Submarine Vibes and Gentleman Lounge Records in the first half of 2019, the self-taught music producer joins Particles with an accomplished reworking of "The Awakening". Retaining the central melodic themes of Chihaka's original and intelligently reworking them within a driving rhythmic framework, the track pulsates gently with familiar piano refrain and plucked sequence. Expertly mixed by Khordad Edulji, a wonderful new low-octave piano motif adds a delicate touch to proceedings post-breakdown and a vibrato edge supplies relevance to the "Dusty Old Tape Machine Remix" title.

No stranger to the underground dance fraternity, Hot TuneiK has consistently wowed listeners with his stirring brand of progressive house. With a triple century of production credits to his name, the Mexican has been a regular across the Proton Music and Particles catalogues with his "Revival" and "Circles of You" for the former and "Erase & Rewind" and "Tulum" EPs for the latter. Now returning to the Particles roster after a remix of Matter & Universal Harmonics in October 2018, Hot TuneiK delivers a typically energetic offering that immediately delivers a rich melodic flow that sits across a nine-minute epic remix. Through laid-back, rolling groove, "Kurohwa" is given the perfect vehicle for a sumptuous array of textured pads to complement the original sounds while the plucked motif sits perfectly on top. Full of magical additional production material, Hot TuneiK delivers a unique interpretation of Chihaka's work while staying true to the elegant musical values of the original.

A musical triptych of the highest order from Chihaka is only enhanced by remixes from Rayomand and Hot TuneiK in "Nyarara”.
