Many times the path of least resistance is often the worst possible path to take. At least that’s what Wess Floyd thinks. For him and his music, the safe choices have seldom been the ones made. Moving to Nashville, TNin the winter of 2004 to play Rock and Roll was not the easy or safe choice. The city had a spotty at best history for non-mainstream country acts. However, Wess was drawn to it history none the less. Raised musically on the Grand Ole Opry’s classic stars in South Alabama, his Peanut Farmer Grandfather taught him how to play the guitar on (fellow Camellia state native) Hank Williams’ songs. As soon as he could string 3 chords and the truth together, he began writing songs. Wess was a bit of a late bloomer as far as Rock and Roll was concerned. It really wasn’t until attending AuburnUniversitythat he discovered Dylan, The Boss, The Stones, and the Beatles at the same time as Punk Rock. It was a fire hose of inspiration. Upon graduation, he put together a local jam-rock band to fight off the boredom of being back in his hometown (Dothan, AL)…however the band had much more in common with Sonic Youth than Widespread. It wasn’t long before stories of Neil Young’s Harvest, The Byrd’s Sweetheart of the Rodeo and Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde drew him toMusicCity, along with the Tales of his Honky-tonk Heroes.

What has followed has been a long journey filled sweat, blood, tears, miles and beer soaked, heart on the sleeve sets in Nashville’s unforgiving club scene as well as dive bars, jukes joints, and legendary rock venues across the South, Midwest, and Texas. After recording two full lengths, and 2 EPs filled soul searching American Rock & Soul, Wess is poised to raise the bar. Joined by a new band including longtime collaborator/guitarist Chris Decker, drummer Nathan Shelton (The Worsties, Kat Smo), and newly returned to Nashville Bassist Adam Barnes, Wess and his mates are beginning to explore new sonic territories and shake off the shackles of being confined to the Roots Rock/Americana genre. With Destruction, can come rebirth and resurrection…Wess Floyd no longer makeAmericana, he destroys it: Rock & Soul, Science Fiction from the South.


  Music is our therapy...and we boil it up in from what we listen to most to create our own threads from roots in the 60s, underground 80s and 90s, and alternative rock.  We are shoegaze, alt. rock, psychedelic, and experimental.

Hello, I am an artist in all sense of the title. My medium is sound visual auditory graphics creativity. I've been writing songs, making music, drawing, painting, and recording for most of my natural life, which is also where I draw my inspiration from (life in general). I enjoy the spontaneity of the abstract and metaphysical forms of art. Some one asked me the question what is art? To me there is only one answer... everything.
