For Dustin Hill, the creator and songwriter of the band, Black Pussy sounded like a fantastic name. It encapsulates exactly what the band is: a psychedelic, '70s-influenced rock 'n' roll band that sounds like Tarantino directing a Thin Lizzy video in the low desert.

Black Pussy approaches their music style with influences across three decades of rock: the 70's, 80's and 90's. The result is a cohesive blend of Kyuss, Hawkwind, The Cars, Monster Magnet and Queens of the Stone Age. Their classic, upbeat and relentlessly hooky tracks embrace traditional pop structure within heavy rock and led to Hill coining the phrase "stoner-pop". Their catchy music tends to seduce anyone, even those who wander in a club after seeing the intriguing band name on the marquis. There is no contrived contention, just fun, love and good tunes. Everyone is invited to this party.

The 2012 debut album, On Blonde, was written and mostly recorded by Hill alone, though guitarist Ryan McIntire, drummer Dean Carroll, bassist Aaron Poplin and keyboardist Chief O'Dell later joined the band. The record kicks off with the rip of a bong and sounds like a drug-riddled midnight misadventure in a '70s muscle car. The track "Blow Some Steam Off" landed a spot on the February 2013 Metal Hammer compilation. 2013 also saw a split release from Black Pussy and LA-based Biblical Proof Of UFOs: a contact high-inducing, 22-minute psychedelic opus entitled "Galaxies."

Magic Mustache, the sophomore full length album, was released on February 17th of 2015 and the band toured the Spring, Summer and Fall in support of it. The album received much acclaim and had premieres from Noisey, Decibel, Terrorizor and Metalsucks.net. This exposure led to a backlash from politically correct new wave feminist groups seeking to shut down the band online with misconstrued accusations of misogyny and racism. Responding to this, the band released a statement: "...Ultimately, the music and the message is what should be scrutinized rather than the clothes we wear or the name we chose. But whatever. Trolls are gonna troll, complainers are going to complain and people who get it are going to keep on getting it."

Where The Eagle Flies, released August 18th of the same year, is a 5 song EP which includes a cover of Blue Oyster Cult's classic song 'Don't Fear The Reaper'. This release features an eclectic collection of rarities, both heavy and psychedelic, as an offering for fans to absorb while the band worked on the follow-up full length to Magic Mustache.

After performing nearly 150 dates in 2016, the material that would find its way onto the next LP was worked and re-worked until it came into clear focus under the microscope and all the stops were pulled. 2016 also saw Black Pussy making their first appearance overseas in Europe. Performing at both Desertfest London and Berlin, they further made a name for themselves sharing the stage with Crowbar, Lionize, Rotor, and Greenleaf among others.

The new full length album, titled Power, is scheduled for release on May 30th, 2017 through Made In China Records. This new album takes the thickly layered production of Magic Mustache and raises the ante; further pulling from the pop sensibility of previous releases. This collection of songs maintains the heaviness the band has been known for while expanding upon the groovier and gentle side of the golden age of classic rock circa the 1970s. Fans of Heart, The James Gang and Eagles of Death Metal will find a smile on their face and a swaying of their hips.
