“I cracked open an old wound. An ancient flintstone extracted from a dry plain near a paleolithic village buried in South Moravia. Finding it was like opening some kind of Pandora's box. To move 40 000 years back. Or into the future? Now I return to my home. Here, on the edge of a small town, the ever shifting landscape transforms the past. Only human artifacts are left, scattered across a freshly ploughed field. At first they appear as disturbances. But in time, with the field harvested and left bare, they become sheltering oases filled with moisture. Everything feels weird and confusing. I am a lost fruit fly returning from an adventure, emotionally attached to a morphing image of a place that changes and yet stays the same. And the home I return to is and is not my home anymore. I am a mere inconsistency, an accident. Meanwhile, the clay heap keeps moving, the trees keep talking. And the resin drips…”

Dj bingo aka Ninja Priest is a Brno(CZ)-based producer and a DJ. Oscillating between soft cute melodies and epic EDM kicks, his contrasting music appeared on compilations by BCAAsystem, Unizone, Soft or Swine World. The upcoming EP to be released on BCAAsystem is a sensitive conceptual walk through buzzing of distorted space-time, an uncanny landscape that’s always there yet beyond our grasp.

A precious slice of microscopic life preserved in an intensive care terrarium. Through a moist glass surface and within lush vegetation expands a busy Colony of Ants. Slowly and painstakingly they are working to form a brittle purple mud into a structure they can call home. From this structure grows an entire forest of tiny flowering plants. Branching and blooming in every direction, they are calling to be pollinated by buzzing Honey Bee replicas. An Aromatic Snail and a Dung Beetle provide help, while a Storm Mantis and a Sugar Spider complete the ecosystem of microfauna, praying for a snack. All but self-sustaining, this closed terrarium system is engineered to simulate all the necessary natural cycles for the fragile community of organisms. The flow of nutrients, hormones, moisture and temperature constantly regulated under the sound of insects buzzing. An experiment in resilience and entropy carefully monitored by a mysterious figure, contemplating on the paradox of environmental repair.

The 33rd release of katharsis is the EP “unearthed, recovered” by the Canadian artist online threat. This release pulls from the dissociated feeling of re-discovering artifacts of remembrance that were once thought to be forever lost, and finding a glimmer of hope as a result. The project accesses a flurry of genres - hard trance, noise, and ambient all find a place here, packing contradicting sounds together in order to birth new sonic possibilities. “unearthed, recovered” is emotional, grotesque and at moments beautiful with its sense of longing and melancholy, a crescendo of tensions followed by an exhale.

On this release, online threat excavates the hidden sonic potentialities of field recordings, samples and synthesis, borrowing their voices to spin immersive narrative tales through his stream-of-consciousness improvisational method. The EP is the artist's third release, following the EP “Memories of Dawns Lost” and the full album “Contrapuntal Transfiguration” on labels surf and Absurd TRAX, besides a couple of self-released tracks and mixfiles. The artwork was made by Matej Mihevc (@h.265_/) who framed and contextualized a painting by Victoria Palacios (@victoriapalacios_), reflecting the sense of decay and reminiscence that the album thematizes.

Multichannel Field recording of A Symphony Of Frogs in the Rain.

Found a large Velvet Ant walking on my driveway today, and couldn't help but notice the odd sounds this insect was making. The recording is of the insect crawling around inside a cardboard box, before I let it go back into my backyard. The Velvet Ant, also known as the "Cow Killer" is actually not an ant, but a wasp. I recorded this with 2 DPA 4060 Lav's and Sound Devices 702 recorder at 24bit-96Khz.
