We created this label to experiment. At its core, Lost in Translation aims to be a platform for artists to explore new approaches to musical storytelling.

It is with this in mind that we are excited to announce the first volume of our Short Stories series, coming out on May 23rd. The brief provided to the artists was simple: tell a story. With a line-up of versatile producers and no limits on the runtime of their chapters, the result is a four-track anthology of introspective atmospheres.

Curated by label head @nocturne_rhc, the inaugural entry to the series welcomes long-time inspirations @dj_theef, @lbhonne and @hame-compathy to the Lost in Translation catalogue.

A special thanks to @azidax for working with us again on the mastering and Matthieu Vaussy for the artwork.

Various Artist - Short Stories Vol. I (Snippets)

Lost In Translation record label has once again delivered an impressive release, this time inviting four talented producers to create unique tracks that are more than just songs - they are short music stories. Among them is Greek producer Theef, whose 15-minute-long track 'Lost in Memories' is our premiere for today. 

The track slowly unfolds from a gentle pad ambient intro into a groovy mesmerizing journey. 'Lost in Memories' grips the listener with its arpeggiated sequence, which serves as the main driving force of the track. Theef carefully layers gentle and thin-sounding pads that levitate over the punchy kick drum, reverbed snare, and metallic hi-hats, creating a sonic atmosphere that is both soothing and energizing. Theef masterfully builds and evolves the sound as the track progresses, adding subtle variations to the rhythm and melody, keeping the listener engaged and captivated. In the final quarter of the journey, Theef introduces a closing sequence that drives this music story to its ending. 

With its second release, 'Short Stories Vol 1' set for May 23, Lost in Translation shows that its innovative approach will be a signature of its work.

PREMIERE: Theef - Lost In Memories [Lost In Translation]

Embracing Midgar's story-tale approach, 'Da Nao Tian Gong' (also known as 'Havoc in Heaven') stands as Polygonia's latest four-track EP. Lindsey Wang draws direct influence from a beloved childhood cartoon, itself inspired by the ancient Chinese legend 'Journey to the West' and the iconic character Sun Wukong. In a retro-modern twist, the tracks vividly depict Sun Wukong's essence: 'Jindou Yun' embodies the swiftness of his cloud, 'Shen Wai Shenfa' invokes his magical hair with tribal rhythms, 'Ruyi Jingu Bang' mirrors his legendary staff's power, and 'Disha Shu' portrays his 72 Transformations through vibrant harmonics.

We proudly present to you the 50th Far Blue concept which is created by Tokyo based ambient DJ Chris SSG. We’ve been a fan of Chris’ mixes for quite a while now, so we are more than happy that he took the time to curate this special episode.

‘I sat in the park and watched the sun set. The blues and oranges blend and blur together, the day gently shifts into night. With that experience in mind, I return home and make this mix. The music captures that transitional zone: beats are present, not for dancing but dreaming. The transitions are gentle and simple, allowing for a sense of space and openness. Old and new, the records are joined together by feelings and memories, the past circling back on the present.’
