German Underground Techno | Dark & Hard | Fear N Loathing in Berlin

Nicolas Lutz comes to us from Uruguay via Berlin and we believe he's on the move somewhere new as we speak, where to we don't quite know but that pretty much sums Nicolas up. He's an enigma, outside of the mainstream, nonconformist. This sentiment also perfectly sums up his DJing, always outsider, never predictable.  

Lutz's sets are immaculately programmed and include music that he has lovingly sought out, music will inevitably become hunted by an increasing numbers of his dedicated, record digging fans. Nicolas first played for us at our off Sonar event in Barcelona in 2017 and his attention to detail and ear for strange, memorable sounds stood out that day. Here he delivers a very rare recorded mix that takes in ambient sounds along with house, breaks, electro and techno but it's not the genres, it's  the underlying texture and detail on display that is the defining feature of episode 114. So ahead of his appearance at Fort Punta Christo for Dimensions 2018, sit back and lose yourself in two hours of Nicolas Lutz...

We check back in with Eoin Keith who spoke to us about Ultra Running last week, Eoin has just taken part in The Barkley Marathons held in Frozen Head State Park near Wartburg, Tennessee. After making it into the 40 Participants how did he get on?

If I think about the energy the crowd had on the 4th day of their new years celebrations at Sisyphos when I arrived at 3pm in the afternoon on this magic Saturday, I just remember of very tired individuals that just wanted to chill for a bit until the party goes on later in the evening the same day. I thought I would just play some of my favorite tracks in front of a decent crowd and go back home satisfied. 

Instead of that I happened to be part of one of the very few super magical moments you have as a dj. I started playing a rather laid back easy listening house set which later developed into one of my most versatile house, techno, deep house sets that I have ever played. Up until now I don't really understand what exactly has happened but all of a sudden the crowd went crazy and so did I, giving them the best I could give out of 21 years of djing, mixing old and new stuff, mainly focussing on vinyl tracks. Please excuse my mixing mistakes, but I was really excited that day - I hope you feel that excitement too when listening to this set. What you hear is 100% of me and the feedback you gave me is a 100% you!

I really, really enjoyed playing for you folks, and I hope that I will do this again in the future. 

It's all about music and music is what it is all about!
