But in 2012 he was found dead at his home in the Bronx, a death that left the music world reeling. Leicester-based producer John Stanhope - aka Disgraceland -has long excelled at blending a curious mind and suave approach to production. With a history of gigs that includes playing alongside names like Goldie, Randall, Andy C, Kevin Griffiths, Harry'Choo Choo' Romero, Clive Henry, Grooverider and Fabio. His pedigree speaks for itself.

Successfully traversing house, techno, trance and drum & bass, it is moombahton – the US invented, mid-tempo, heavy and bass-driven global sound – that has his attention now. With tracks like All of My Zeroes Are Greater Than Your One gaining the favour of genre inventor Dave Nada, the future looks extremely promising for the man widely considered to be at the top of the table for UK, and now international Moombahton.

After taking some time away from his career to become a parent and concentrate on his family, Disgraceland came across moombahton through Israeli producer SaBBo’s Soundcloud in 2010. Since then he has been refining his own angle and has adeveloped a significant online following. Of his Oliver$ ‘Gypsy Carnival’ edit Mixmag’s Neil Queen-Jones said: “John Stanhope has done plenty to marshal the UK scene, and his laid back, slick take on the 108 has earned him a place here. The big party fiesta vibes of this one are also totally on point. A winner.”
