The next fabric podcast comes from party starter, party host, and party favourite, Reece Spooner.

Welcome to the world of Fiasco! Ahead of a Room 3 takeover on 7th October for “Midland & Friends”, we invited Fiasco! Founder Reece Spooner to mastermind the next episode of our ongoing mix series. And it’s a really fun one; with tracks from DJ SWISHA, Amaliah, DJ ADHD and more including a forthcoming banger from Reece himself, this is one hour of sheer energy that transports us straight to the buoyant energy of a packed-out and pumping Room 3.

Reece also joined us for a chat on the fabric blog, where he discusses all things Fiasco! - from Reece’s own formative influence of Midland and the party’s origins at Dalston Superstore, right through to Reece’s own perceptions on London clubbing, the sets he’s enjoyed this summer, and who he is most looking forward to seeing play at the club next weekend.

Of his own sound, Reece says, “My sound is a colourful, raucous and eclectic mix of heady, heavy-hitting dance music: house and jackin’ house, ghetto house, ballroom, techno, jersey club, trance, UK bass, garage, electro, footwork & more. I’m really inspired by 90s black house and techno music - Armando, Paul Johnson, DJ Deeon (RIP) etc as well as the sounds I grew up listening to in East London - grime, UKG, dubstep."

"Recently I’ve been loving East Coast Dance music as well as the sounds I’ve picked up on my travels in Europe - proggy and more euphoric hands-in-the-air moments. Think high NRG, irreverent, naughty lyrics and vocals, gnarly basslines and grooves, hands-in-the-air moments, and a cheeky pop banger thrown in for good measure.”

Alex Burkat is no stranger to eclecticism. From his humble beginnings
as an electroclash live performer as Pfunkt in 2007, to his
exploration into darker UK centric and Detroit booty bass dubstep music
as Rx in 2009, Alex Burkat got his start exploring the boundaries of
electronic music intensity. In 2013, he shifted gears into the realm
of all things House, with his breakthrough record "Shower Scene" on
Mister Saturday Night Records. Since then he has been rocking lofts,
warehouses and intimate music venues all over the Philadelphia and New
York City area. As an extension of his eclectic mixed bag style of
deep house influenced club music, he has started the DJ party and mix
series Ancient Puzzle Arts, with Upstairs at the 700 in Philadelphia as his
home. Alex Burkat shows no sign of slowing down, as he has various
singles and EPs scheduled to drop in 2024.

What a Playground is a platform run by @lenabrecht aiming to feature emerging artists who share her passion for various facets of House music. A space of warm tunes, soft vibes, energetic melodies and new encounters. 

What a Playground aims to create an open and safer space for especially FLINTA* and BIPoC artists, encouraging them to play first sets to an appreciative, curious and diverse crowd. Curating DIY gatherings since summer 2022, the format is not only about creating pleasure and joy, but also about caring for each other. During each gathering we invite everybody to support a trusted organization whose work helps underrepresented people.

Here on SoundCloud sets from our community will be shared. Furthermore, this accounts aims to push the visibility of FLINTA* and BIPoC producers/artists.
