The latest episode of the When We Dip podcast is here and we're honoured to welcome an act which has played a big part in sculpting the shape of the electronic scene in Ireland.

Shane Johnson and Greg Dowling AKA Fish Go Deep are two of the truest musical pioneers on this green isle, last year celebrating a whopping twenty five years spinning the best in soulful, groove-filled House Music. The pair have impressed year on year with top quality releases on the likes of Defected Records, Innervisions and their very own Go Deep Recordings.

With new music forthcoming on Atjazz Music Company, Local Talk and more, 2015 looks set to be yet another big year for Fish Go Deep. We caught with Shane this week to find out what they've been upto and what the next few months have in store. So hit that play button and enjoy!

Some things in life cannot be measured by numbers or translated into words. Having the privilege to officially remix a track by Hernan Cattaneo is one of them. Among this select group is the Brazilian producer and multi-instrumentalist BRVNOV, who has just delivered his own interpretation of Love Is Coming Back. The original track, released in February 2023 featuring the Egyptian-Canadian duo Husa & Zeyada, presented Zeyada’s hypnotic vocals — which were preserved and carefully repositioned in this new remix. The remix sets an intrinsically hypnotic mood from the start, guiding the listener through a sensitive and immersive journey. The break, wrapped in melodic pads, creates a moment of absolute trance and seems to suspend time before the drop, which is luminary and expansive. This is BRVNOV’s third release on DOC Records, consolidating not only his place in the label’s catalog but also the trust and respect of Gui Boratto. With impeccable technical polishing and a steadily growing creative signature, BRVNOV shows himself fully in tune with the Progressive House territory and ready to continue pushing its limits.

Here’s a mix I was asked to do for Balance a few months ago using old and new Plastic Fantastic tunes. 
Due to unforeseen circumstances, it was never released so thought I’d post for your listening pleasure. 

Some of the older tracks have been pitched down as everything was faster in the 90s/00s but I think they still sound great. The mix features some amazing material which I’m very proud to have released, from the likes of Stefano Greppi, Francesco Farfa, Voyager, Dave Kane, Slacker, Casa Flava, Moshic & Zidan, Ozgur Can, together with tracks and remixes from the new guard: Sean Harvey, Rolasoul, Fordal, Patch Park and of course me - Cortona :)

Plastic Fantastic 'The Past & The Future' mixed by Cortona

Oniris found his calling in the mid-’90s club scene, where house and techno first took hold of him. Years of experimentation and self-taught production across far-flung islands like Mayotte and New Caledonia honed his melodic, emotive sound.

His breakthrough came when Laurent Garnier championed his tracks, propelling Oniris onto the global stage with a debut EP on Bedrock Records that cemented his place as one of France’s most compelling techno exports.

With his All Over Me EP on Balance Music, Oniris proved his knack for sculpting hypnotic, melody-driven house that resonates on both the dance floor and the heart.

On this Balance Selections mix, the veteran French producer threads that same theme through an hour of soothing, afro-prog energy. Featuring tracks from Oxia, Ian O’Donovan, and Beckers & D-Nox, it’s a solid-gold session of deeply affecting house.
