French label Canal Auditif is back after a couple of months of silence with a fresh release by an artist from their hometown Toulouse; Jacme.

No stranger to the label, Jacme makes his return to Canal Auditif after having appeared on the Oddities Vol. 1 compilation album little over a year ago and after having delivered a couple of high quality remixes. But now it’s time for his solo material, and with three fresh cuts from this talented producer we promise you you’re in for a treat!

The EP kicks off with 'The Seven Tones', a melancholic deep melodic dreamer. Followed by 'Aftertouch 99’ which explores the funky spectrum of melodic house music with its infectious groove and airy synthlines. Finally it’s time for ’Saudade’, an intelligent dance floor pleaser that is both warm and groovy with it’s tribal percussion. A proper climax builder this one!

But wait, that’s not all! Because New Dehli based producer SHFT take on remix duties for ’Saudade’ in a way only he can. Dark, raw, funky and melodic are the key words to decribe this one. A stellar remix as we’ve come to expect from this guy.

The originals of the twelfth EP of the label are provided by a really talented artist from the UK, called His. Creator. The three detailed and well balanced originals, of which ‘Nightshift’ is the title track, are accompanied by a remix of the Hungarian Justrice.

The first track, ‘Nocturnal Eye’, already starts off with a lot of tension and sets the tone. The track has a compelling build-up towards the middle part of the track. Afterwards it slowly comes down without getting boring once, all guided by what we could name a signature piano synth. 

The title track, ‘Nightshift’, will make you fly for sure. The lead will bring you to some higher atmospheres, again guided by this piano synth. The track has an outstanding and surprising arrangement, which is mainly noticeable in the break, from which the lead rises again. 

REM, is probably the most powerful track of the EP with the heaviest lower end of the four. On the lower end a cutting synth is floating, which makes the full composition suitable for the dancefloor.

At Justrice’s interpretation of REM, he managed to bring in a lot of groove with his signature and remarkable percussion. The extended break gives the track some more tension, nevertheless it still stays very suitable for the dancefloor, maybe even more. The remix brings us to the end of a strong and well composed EP.

Just a few months after EdOne purveyed his own reinterpretation to
Ivory & Auggie’s leaden prototype, demonstrating a fine
comprehension of “Basic Rhythm,” he returns on MoBlack Records,
now alongside Martin HERRS, and INVŌKER on remix duties, with
“Tatalina.” On A side, the Spaniards delicately unfold a poignant
sojourn that wanders and diffuses the rims of isolation and
belonging. The tender, 6:28 minute aural escapade starts off with a
simple ingress, pummeled by an inquisitive bassline into a gripping
melodic procession. Tatalina escalates to a euphoric stillness
transcended by haunting piano chords, but breaks free when
intermittently disrupted by deep synthetic pulsations, evoking the
frailty of memory and vulnerability of emotion.
French rising star INVŌKER deploys his empowered rendition of the
title track, pulling a bit less feeling from emotion and a little more
feeling from sense. Tension and groove pull and reverb in this
particular tug of play, where space is dark, energy is incandescent
and the texture of sound is moist and locomotive. MB384 sits in the
juncture of memory, motion and emotion, a pursuit of that fleeting
moment that is only present in one instant, as well as an attempt to
prolong its existence through sound.
