Norwegian DJ and producer Mikkas (aka Djuma Soundsystem) saddles up with Danish DJ and producer Emok to deliver two tracks which unite disparate styles in a cohesive journey of atypical sound in Sagas of Iziki | Chapter 2.

Smashing staccato percussion together with artful drums and vocals that wouldnt be out of place at a fireside chant, Osuga is a dancing contradiction.

The mysterious Hyenah adds a downright predatory bassline to the original cut, lending Osuga (Hyenah Remix) a persistently harder edge.

No stranger to the underground, Kellerkind takes it out of the basement and into the streets, warming up his remix of Osuga (Kellerkind Remix) with his hallmark dramatic builds and a roaring finale.

Riding the harder edge of tribal electro, deep distorted bass lines marry up with sparkling polyrhythmic samples and unhinged tribal vocals in the EPs second cut, Macai.

Youll barely have time to come up for air before Aurka delivers his rendition of Macai (Aurka Remix). Made for a steady 3AM dancefloor, this already heavy track cuts deep with its rowdy vibes.

WhoMadeWho’s Silence & Secrets is the gift that just keeps on giving. Following the critically acclaimed release of the original record back in November, and a subsequent brace of star-studded remixes from Frank Wiedemann and Adriatique in January, the Danish three-man outfit now looks to further expand on the success of the third single from their forthcoming album, as they enlist Grammy Award-winning South African artist Black Coffee to provide another blockbuster rendition.

Having just accepted the 2022 Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the award ceremony in Los Angeles last weekend, Black Coffee’s latest production sees Durban-born Nkosinathi Maphumulo breathe new life and a pulsating energy into WhoMadeWho’s wistful original single, as he imparts superlative rhythmic flair to the band’s restrained melodic euphoria.

Reworking WhoMadeWho’s emotive lyrics and uplifting chord progressions into his own percussive sound palette, Coffee’s signature house groove provides the perfect backdrop to Tomas Høffding’s drawn out vocal refrains, as he conjures an impressive tapestry of organic drum patterns and stripped back tones, to deliver the latest spellbinding remix of the flourishing hit record.

Over the last two decades, DJ and producer Black Coffee has fully established his presence as one of the most prominent names in electronic music. Shattering boundaries across the board, his recent productions include a record with international superstar Drake, an official remix for Alicia Keys and the release of his sixth studio album Subconsciously – a twelve-track body of work featuring collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Diplo, RyX, Usher and David Guetta – which recently received the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album by the Recording Academy.

Damian Lazarus celebrates 20 Years of his world-renowned Crosstown Rebels imprint with a special album  project of unreleased cuts and fresh remixes, featuring material from Black Coffee, Maceo Plex, Art Department,  Dennis Cruz and many more. 

Ringing in a major milestone in style, 2023 will see Lazarus and Crosstown mark  the 20th Anniversary of the label with a series of celebratory projects unveiled in the lead-up to summer, with ‘CR20 The Album’ set for  release on 12th May 2023.  

“20 years ago, I dreamed a dream of creating a family of like-minded, crazy individuals from all corners of the planet - releasing  music to the world and making people dance. That dream was Crosstown Rebels, and this year we are 20. Over these years, I have  forged beautiful friendships, discovered very talented artists and tried my best to help, advise and support some of the most  colourful characters in dance music. Crosstown Rebels is more than a record label, it is family. 

So 2023 will mark the label’s 20th Anniversary. This is an opportunity for the Crosstown Rebels family, a global community of  artists, DJs and creatives, and the label’s myriad of followers to celebrate this momentous milestone. There will be parties and  events around the world. A killer compilation of exclusives and special remixes, a beautiful coffee table book, a short film, and a  special launch event are planned to bring together the sights and sounds of the label’s unique and influential history. Opening the package, Lazarus’ own 2020 collaboration ‘Into The Sun’ with regular Crosstown vocalist Jem Cooke is given a cosmic rework  by Johannesburg’s Major League DJz, while Jamie Jones’ slick ‘Paradise 2011’ is stripped back and given a new lease of life by the  hypnotic and heady sounds of Art Department. Opening the B-Side, Dennis Cruz brings his percussive Latin-infused signature sound  palette to Chilean musician and producer Pier Bucci’s ‘Hay Consuelo’, before Audiojack’s ‘Feel Good’, another standout collaboration  alongside Cooke, is taken into synth-led territories as Michael Mayer reaches for an evolving bed of captivating tones. 

The second half of the project brings more excellently remixed material, both new and old, with GRAMMY-winning DJ/producer Black Coffee  turning his hand to the label’s first release of 2023 in Made By Pete and Zoe Kypri’s emotive ‘Horizon Red’, unveiling reworked melodies and  sparkling keys as he delivers an interpretation of a track which has featured as a staple in his sets. Next, the project welcomes Adam Ten &  Yamagucci’s playful yet off-kilter and wonky ‘The K Dance’ which unveils itself as a production perfect for those late night hours and early  afters, before Ellum boss Maceo Plex’s ‘Together (2011 Mix)’ brings another lost production to the mix with a driving and zipping ride through  sugary synths and soaring leads. To close, Tibi Dabo turns his attention to Guti & Dubshape’s absorbing ‘Every Cow Has A Bird’, delivering a  nimble minimal-led trip through lush pads and crisp percussion to round things out in style.

Yepes returns to Abracadabra following his recent ‘My Way’ single with Sounds Of Rituals, this time collaborating with Presi On and Renate for the powerful vibes of ‘Mawu’.

Yepes picks up the story; “the story of this track began on a road trip to Cartagena. While we were listening to different songs, we hit a song from Adriatique that caught our attention at the same time as the sunset. The melodies and emotions they put into their track got us thinking and wanting to deliver a track with that emotion. That's how we came up with "Mawu," a very emotional and inspirational track. "Mawu" is a musical tribute to the powerful creator goddess of Dahomey mythology. This track is infused with heavenly harmonies and angelic chords, designed to capture the essence of Mawu's benevolent and nurturing nature. As we composed this track, we sought to convey the many facets of Mawu's character, from her role as a protector and nurturer of all life to her strength and determination in the face of adversity. The melody is designed to evoke feelings of hope and perseverance, capturing the essence of Mawu's journey and her unwavering determination to achieve her goals. Mawu is a goddess associated with the Sun and Moon, and we used this idea to create a track that is both light and dark, with a balance of different instruments, to create a harmony that reflects the balance of the universe. As you listen, let yourself be transported to the mystical world of Mawu, and be reminded of the power of the divine and the importance of living in harmony with the natural world.

Estonian-native Urmet K has steadily established himself as a firm fixture on London’s underground circuit. Blurring the lines between hypnotic and emotive house melodies. His music often features hefty grooves, intricate organic percussive passages as well introspective synth arrangements that have been supported by key players like Black Coffee, Themba and Pablo Fierro.

Opener ‘Unani Pendeza’ Ft. BAQABO is Afro house infused with spiritual synths and whimsical melodies. It’s one for late-night lovers, with the beautiful vocals and meaningful pads casting a fine spell on all who hear it. ‘Sweat’ is just as physically charged, this time with layer upon layer of loose percussion, swaying drums and keys that rain down from the heavens. Angelic vocal chants arrive next to bold minor chords to enrich the groove yet further and complete the magical atmosphere.
