We’re very excited about this EP from 22-year-old French newcomer, Leon Revol. Hailing from Bordeaux, he previously released gems on Apersonal Music, Carré Bleu Rec and Boutade Musique (under the name Leonid.) before changing his name. This EP he’s put together for us shows huge potential for the youngster, with a sophisticated sound that is beyond his years. ‘Clear Definition (Dub Mix)’ comes across like vintage Herbert with a more emotive edge, ‘Eulogy For Hip-Hop’ is a string-laden, looping roller, and ‘Good Jack’ takes things deeper still for some smoky early-morning slo-mo vibes.

The latest @Roam-Recordings is a tribute to Nicole Mason who passed in a tragic accident. Nicole was a major part of the featured artist collaboration @2-block-radius along with Tom Cloutman and Tee Cardaci founded in 1999. 

During the late 90s early 00s San Francisco was a hotbed for dance music. Musicians from around the word moved to the city and serendipitously ended up living within 2 Blocks from each other in the Lower Haight neighborhood. A community of artists and musicians sprouted up. Roam Recordings started there and label boss JP Soul ran a popular after hours spot next to the legendary DJ bar The Top. Tweakin’ Records was on the block and Nicole lived above the store where he kept a recording studio and was always around for deep conversation and a good laugh.

To commemorate his passing Roam Recordings is releasing this EP For Nicole. The original offering by Tom Cloutman is a beautiful deep house tune that captures the essence of the days of yore and the sound of 2 Block Radius. The EP also features three remixes from San Francisco family JP Soul, PillowTalk and Galen. 

All 3 remixes are very different and we loved them all in their own original way. As we could only share one though, we are happy to feature this customary smooth journey from the crooners PillowTalk (@pillow-talk-1). 

This dedication EP For Nicole is a slice of San Francisco that brings together many long standing members of the community.

Mario Arici - Inside The Vibes

Seb Wildblood, one of the driving forces behind Church Records, makes his debut on Let’s Play House with an EP called ‘Familiar Boundaries’.

The first of the four tracks ‘Necessary Happiness’ sets the tone of the EP with chilled house beats featuring keys by Paul Cut.

An embellished and brighter version of the first track is repeated later with a mix by Mad Sax.

Seb finishes things off with ‘Pass the Pen’, a jazzy hip-hop beat accompanied with loose instrumentals.

London producer-duo, Wayward, are back after blowing us away with their marvelous "Good Afternoon Mr Magpie" EP. Wayward have a knack for bridging the gap between the dancefloor and the more soulful side of electronic music, with support across the radio airwaves from the likes of Giles Peterson on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, KCRW, Beats In Space and Rinse FM. 

Wayward's most recent release, the "Green Lanes" EP is another milestone for the rising duo. The EP opener “Green Lanes” (co-written with London producer Books) is a dance floor ready tune with a hypnotic bassline and the perfect amount of cowbell. “Maxi Love” brings the disco heat with an edit of a timeless classic, reinterpreted for late night escapades. On the B side, “Time and Again” is a breezy house banger and the closing track “Silver” is reminiscent of Wayward’s signature sound, blending samples in seamlessly with warm percussive elements.

Out on 12" via BONN, October 19th.

Adult Fiction marks release number two with a trio of tracks that once again demonstrate the sophisticated sounds that are set to grace the more discerning dance floors. Emerging from Belfast, this artist/label project stays true to the ethos of 90's timeless sounds, reverently updated.

electronic dub. Our choice is Stockholm producer Paresse who reappears with this building peaks mix ramps up to disco-house mood seasoned with a attractive bass lines, spoken word vocals, dark melancholic pads and sounds like a manifesto of strumming through the spine of the track.
