Mit der EP “Stay” begeben sich 959er & Nomi Solo auf ein akustisches Abenteuer, inspiriert von World Music, Chill Out und Down Tempo. Das Ergebnis ist Dümpeltechno vom Feinsten! 

Der Opening-Track “Stay” wird von einem wabernden Synthie getragen, der mitreißt, ohne dick aufzutragen. Seine technoide Abstammung bemerkt man spätestens durch das Einsetzen der Kickdrum. In der Mitte des Tracks kommt Gänsehautstimmung auf, verursacht durch ein harmonisches Flöten-Thema und dem immer wiederkehrenden Vocal. Abgerundet wird das Stück mit fein eingesetzten Percussions und einem dezenten Summen.

“Am Morgen nach einer durchtanzten Nacht” ist der Auftakt zum zweiten Titel der EP. “Carong” lädt ein zu einer Reise, begleitet von einer klaren Orgel und deepem Synthie-Sound. Sie führt auf einem langen Bogen zum eigentlichen Thema, welches durch sein ausgewogenes Gitarrenspiel besticht. Der Einsatz von traditionellen Shakern und die eingängige Bassline machen den Sound rund und schaffen eine Atmosphäre, die “wieder, und immer wieder” zum Träumen verleitet.

“Listen” wählt eine schnellere Gangart, die das Stück absolut clubtauglich macht. Es schöpft Kraft aus der treibenden Bassline und dem orchestral anmutenden Synthie. Der rollende Charakter wird durch das Zusammenspiel gezielter Rhythmuselemente verstärkt. Nicht zuletzt die dynamischen Steeldrums verleihen dem Stück seinen ganz eigenen Charakter. 

“Jenny” ist das sphärische Schlusswort der EP. Durch das Wechselspiel der langgezogenen Keys und der Gitarrenriffs geraten, mit Hilfe von viel Delay, die Gedanken ins Schweifen. Wieder sind es die präzise inszenierten Percussions, die den Titel einmalig machen. Der Track kommt ohne richtige Bassline aus, das schafft Raum und durch den melancholischen Vocal wandern die Gedanken weiter und weiter.

You know you’ve made it when you’re writing anthems for festivals. Thankfully, Dutchman Olivier Weiter’s anthem for One Tribe, ID&T’s upcoming Southern California debut, is a slightly deeper affair than your usual recap video soundtrack. The immersive, moody tech-house tune should get a proper rinsing next month and dancefloors will be better for it. 

“With this track I wanted to capture a hypnotic but uplifting vibe with rolling tribal drums,” says Weiter. “A deep, intimate travel within yourself, to celebrate unity with other tribe members." Sounds trippy.

Some times the music just magically comes out, and that is the case here with "Syria" by new Sol*Selectas artist Unders from Amsterdam. After several successful tunes above the 120 BPM mark on labels like Sincopat and Groove On, "Syria" was Unders' first attempt at slower grooves, and an accidental experiment that just "fell into place, and was automatic magic". Syria's current political unrest is all over the news and social media, and the story being painted is difficult to watch. Driven to create a song which goes against all the negative publicity, Unders says "between all the negativity, the more i looked into the situation, the country, its people and its culture, the more this track reminded me of so much beauty the media doesn’t portray." The song itself a slow minimal trip with chopped up guitar licks, and a gorgeous flute sample that takes the listener to far off desert lands. Satori is yet another up and coming producer from the Netherlands, gaining instant recognition sharing the stage and studio with Acid Pauli, and producing incredible tunes utilizing live instruments played by himself, and tastefully incorporating these with electronic elements. His remix preserves the original message of "Syria" lowering the BPM to an even more hypnotic 104 BPMs. Satori adds middle eastern strings and chords, swapping out the original vocal for a more Saharan inspired call, and even plays delicately with some acid sounds furthering the listeners journey. 
Both songs are meant to invoke peaceful images of Syria, and conjure up positive intention on the dance floor. Sol*Selectas is very excited to present the debut song "Syria" from Unders, and the amazing remix by Satori, two artists from the Netherlands you would do well to keep your eyes and ears open to in 2016.

With the season well underway, Get Physical is hitting the ground running with the 18th edition of Full Body Workout. If case you’ve been living under a rock the last decade, Full Body Workout aims to shine a spotlight on some of the hottest rising and established talent for their take on where the scene is now, and where it might be headed. So finding tracks by visionaries like Pezzner, NIBC and Nils Hoffman shouldn’t come as a surprise. The compilation opens with a floor-moving tech-house groove from Supernova to set everything into motion. Quickly following is Pezzner with ‘Julie’, a small shift down in energy initially, only to rise to peak time levels over the course of the track. Eagles & Butterflies then shakes down the floor with a percussion driven beauty, ‘Awakening’. Nils Hoffman up next. The young German producer delivers a stunning track full of bass swells and calls it ‘Storms’. Hold out for the elegant piano lines in the break, a brilliant contrast to the dark and heavy bass surrounding it. Tim Green is back with another brace of high impact club tunes of the sort that have made him one of the most in-demand producers of the day.

Whether serving up rolling techno treats for Cocoon, essential mixes for the Body Language series on Get Physical or laying down compelling club sets in the DJ booth, Brit Tim Green is unstoppable right now. Here he steps up to the Get Weird imprint with two more tantalising cuts that show just how broad and brilliant an artist he is.

Stirring opener ‘For A Memory’ is eleven minutes of wordless and intoxicating female vocals, slick rubbery drums and plunging bass. The overall effect is hypnotic, rolling and perfectly groovy, and it will no doubt have whole dancefloors locked under its spell. Some little melodic explosions, sweeping filters and luscious pads all help add a real air of grace to proceedings that mark it out as another classic from Green.

‘For A Distant Memory’ is a subtle but noteworthy reworking of the same cut. In this one, the drums are less direct and more stripped back, there is a focus on the angelic, glowing pads and on spine tingling slices of synth that are reflective and emotive as they drop in and out. It is a perfectly trance inducing, heart warming cut that the likes of Lee Burridge at his All Day I Dream parties, or various DJs playing on a sun kissed terrace around the globe, will all lap right up.

LOR brings together elements of techno, electronica and house to create his individual sound.

The Belfast producer announced his arrival late last year with remixes of classics by Arthur Russell and Kraftwerk, which were supported by the likes of Âme, Gerd Janson, Bicep, John Talabot and more.

As a DJ, LOR is rapidly on the rise, moving from Belfast Underground Radio, to various festivals this summer including AVA in Belfast, Celtronic in Derry and Tramlines in Sheffield.

On the production front, LOR’s first official remix, of Sau Poler’s ‘Esperits’ is due on leading Dutch label, Atomnation in September, of which we exclusively premiere.

Celebrating all the things music can say that words can’t, we joyfully present the fourth installment of the ‘Words Don’t Come Easy’ compilation.  Sixteen tracks in total, from WhoMadeWho to Blunted Dummies, we’ve gathered a selection that speaks for itself. M.A.N.D.Y.’s ‘Higher and Lower’ remix of WhoMadeWho’s ‘Hi & Low’ opens the package. Tomas Høffding’s vocals spread out, setting a warm tone for the compilation. The next track is a brand new exclusive, Savvas Ysatis & Olga Kouklaki’s tech-house burner, ‘Big Fish Fight’. Montreal artist @Kora-musique takes the next steps for recently launched New York label Earthly Delights, an imprint centred on spotlighting talents pushing the boundaries of electronic blends. The Canadian producer and DJ picks up the mantle from Yor Kultura, who provided the labels first release in a three tracker titled 'Odyssey'. Kora comes to the label after the well received 'Nuit D'Afrique' and 'Ovo' on Kindisch in November. He treats Earthly Delights to two original cuts in 'Fragile' and 'Vayu'. The pair have already seen much support  from the likes of Acid Pauli, Hernan Cattaneo, Oliver Schories, as well as heavy rotation on the playa. White Ocean founder Timujin supplies the remix action, reworking his own top notch version of 'Fragile'. Today, we're very excited to present to you in full premiere 'Fragile' in its original mix. This is an incredibly emotive cut, which fuses two distant worlds in one exquisite concoction. Family, Fish, Shapes. These are only three of the many topics that Stefan Streck aka The Micronaut recently devoted himself to within his releases on labels such as Acker Records or Analogsoul. Always with a clear line, but never intellectualising, is how the multi-instrumentalist and producer pursues his scientific curiosity in terms of sounds. His tracks are elaborate and yet danceable. Sometimes they are composed minimally, sometimes they are utterly playful. Within just a few bars, subtle sequences transform to energetic roller coaster rides since The Micronaut loves having a game with contrasts. His newest EP on Freude am Tanzen proves this anew.
The EP contains four tracks full of references to the past in view of the future. Indeed, the samples and sounds of the British “summers of love“ echo strongly until today, however, they sound much more like a reinvention instead of a revival in the case of The Micronaut. Since his music doesn’t shy away from big gestures, but virtually seeks them out – and discovers them where melancholy meets euphoria far from rigid genre classifications. Breakbeats from Britain come upon IDM and trance, wide synth landscapes are embedded in pop. Hence, this is how The Micronaut unifies contrasts a new in each track.

To start a rave once again somewhere in broad acres or in abandoned tunnels. On top of that, this track, whether early or late, the arms up in the air and a riot of emotion. Air horn!

A2. Oldnew
Shuffle, but different. Almost like Kompakt wasn’t from Cologne, but from London. Similar over here, nobody is looking obliquely when the beat doesn’t march straight forward four-to-the-floor. Massive groove with obstacles, might as well.

B1. Underover
It’s as if James Holden was on his way going on a short trip in England beginning of the nineties when basses still made ears and trousers tremble. This sound won’t age in a hundred years – especially not when it’s as fresh.

B2. Smallbig?
The bouncer with tremendous thoughtfulness. A hymn for the late hours shortly before the lights go on. In last retrospect, not thinking about tomorrow. In this moment for all eternity, for one night.
