Just after the release of her magnificent Watergate-Compilation we are glad to announce La Fleur's new EP. "Arms Around" and "Stella" already appeared as exclusive material on "Watergate 16" and will be available as stand-alone versions on Watergate's in-house label.

The eponymous track is reminiscent of the melodic early-noughties, arouses nostalgia and makes us want to dance barefooted in the sunlight. The dreamy, synth-driven break guarantees a proverbial "Arms Around"-effect on the floor, just before the euphoric bassline kicks in again, accompanied by rattling hi-hats.

On the contrary, "Stella" is a reduced deep-house track, carried by filtered pads, vocal shreds and a never ending groove.

"Arms Around" was remixed by nobody less than Carl Craig. His "Affected Rmx" keeps the originals' charm but increases its intensity with precise accents.

Unique, ethereal and impatiently awaited: Here it finally is: young Brazilian producer coiro releases his album ‘Reflections’, a collection of deep and organic electronic tracks, filled with clouds of droning synths, complex percussion rhythms and astonishing grooves. A masterpiece that took the talented musician months to make and a product that now makes all the time spent waiting for it worth it.

Warum ich meine Musik nie hochlade – die Blockade durch Social Media

Es gibt Momente, in denen ich eine neue Idee für ein Musikstück habe, in denen der kreative Fluss mich wirklich mitreißt. Doch sobald ich darüber nachdenke, diese Musik mit der Welt zu teilen, tritt etwas ein, das mich immer wieder stoppt: Social Media.

Es ist nicht so, dass ich nicht möchte, dass andere meine Musik hören. Ganz im Gegenteil, ich träume davon, meine Arbeit zu teilen und eine Verbindung mit Menschen zu schaffen, die meine Musik vielleicht verstehen oder sie sogar inspirierend finden. Aber je mehr ich in die Welt der sozialen Medien eintauche, desto mehr merke ich, wie sich eine Blockade in mir aufbaut.

Social Media hat diese Art, uns zu vergleichen. Man sieht ständig, wie andere Künstler ihre Songs veröffentlichen, wie sie alles professionell inszenieren und in der breiten Masse Anerkennung finden. Und dann stehe ich da und frage mich: „Bin ich gut genug? Was, wenn es niemand mag? Was, wenn ich es nicht richtig mache?“ Diese ständigen Vergleiche sind lähmend und lassen mich glauben, dass ich nicht genug zu bieten habe, oder dass meine Musik nicht den Standards entspricht, die heute von Künstlern verlangt werden.

Außerdem – und das ist vielleicht noch entscheidender – fühle ich mich von der ständigen Präsenz und den Erwartungen der sozialen Medien erdrückt. Es geht nicht nur darum, Musik zu machen, sondern auch darum, eine Markenidentität zu kreieren, ständig präsent zu sein, zu posten, zu interagieren und alles rund um den eigenen Content zu vermarkten. Diese Drucksituation blockiert mich kreativ. Statt die Musik selbst zu genießen, drehe ich mich im Kreis von Selbstzweifeln und dem Gefühl, dass ich nicht „genug“ tue, um gehört zu werden.

Ich habe mich von dieser Erwartungshaltung zu sehr beeinflussen lassen und verliere dabei den Kontakt zu dem, was eigentlich für mich zählt: Die Musik und der Prozess des Schaffens. Was, wenn ich einfach für mich selbst Musik machen könnte, ohne den ganzen Hype drumherum? Aber dieser Gedanke wird oft von den Stimmen in meinem Kopf übertönt, die mir sagen, dass es nicht genug ist, wenn es nicht auch auf Social Media geteilt wird.

Vielleicht ist der Weg nach vorn, einen Schritt zurückzutreten, mich wieder auf das zu konzentrieren, was ich wirklich will – ohne den Druck von außen. Denn Musik ist mehr als nur eine visuelle Präsenz. Sie ist eine emotionale Ausdruckskraft, die oft mehr von uns verlangt als wir glauben. Ich hoffe, irgendwann den Mut zu finden, meine Werke zu teilen – nicht aus der Erwartung heraus, dass sie etwas beweisen müssen, sondern einfach, weil ich sie erschaffen habe und weil sie Teil von mir sind.

The bond between Sprechen & the Idaho based duo Causeway (Allison Rae & Marshall Watson) has been steadily building over recent time with various message & props to each other as well Allie providing outstanding vocals on The Thief Of Time release last year.

With previous releases on Italians Do It Better (one of our fave labels!) they are now front & centre on Sprechen with their latest single 'Dancing With Shadows', a pulsating piece of hefty synth style action which precedes their forthcoming long player.

The single is a sonic exploration of the duo's expansive musical palate which cites influences from contemporaries such as The Cure & New Order (and even John Hughes movies!) but with a presence that is 100% unique to Causeway. Stripped back instrumentation and stacked synths create a dreamlike soundscape where Allison's vocal becomes the guiding light and provider of additional emotion on this neon soaked journey.

Dancing With Shadows comes across like a main track from the sequel to Drive that we never got (though we live in hope!), cinematic, stunning and a real plentiful taster of what is to come on their album next year.

Remixes take the track into other dysfunctional disco realms with Marshall himself providing a pumped up club mix that cranks everything from the OG up to 11 on the 'chunk-o-meter'. Whilst Sprechen's very own Chris Massey goes in for the acid kill with his 303 tweaking A Love From Outer Space style mid set stomper. Speaking of A Love From Outer Space, Sean Johnston himself gives a deep, moody & more psychedelic affair to his rework that takes things subterranean. Whilst Kiaki takes things deeper into stripped back chug territory which is equal parts hypnotic & hooky with a stomping backdrop...big!

Madrid-based producer Bawrut has turned to one of the freshest musical exports of the Iberian peninsular in recent years. As his style holds classic as well as new elements the producer creates an overlap that DJs and club-goers cannot only agree on but rather become enthusiastic about. The artist's latest work, his 'Jomo EP', is going to be released shortly on PETS Recordings and the four-tracker and represents the Bawrut's aforementioned musical approach. 'Pioneers', the A1 of the EP and probably namely paying tribute to original electronic music artists, does the same in terms of sounds without a reference to today's club-culture as the chosen elements and synth-chords may follow a vintage approach but sound so refurbished that the sparkle of the present if not to say the future shines through.

10th release on @idasound comes from Bogdan from Saint-Petersburg, also known as "Krjuk" and member of duo "Soft Metal". 
Four original tracks on the EP are full of breakbeat influences with acid lines and quirky percussions, filled with weird vocal cuts, wonky and atmospheric melodism. This combination ends up in some finest leftfield sound in the result.
We got Miskotom from Vilnius on the remix bringing dark and mystic vibe to the title track while ИДА co-founders Uninc & Kolomensky make a signature touch on ‘Sevkabel Acid’.
