'In May 2020 Cocoon Recordings released the third album of Harald Björk. With the club scene on Covid-hold , tours canceled and all of our favorite DJ’s locked up at home… not the optimal conditions to release an album on a nr.1 world wide club empire as Cocoon. How ever we decided not to let a virus kill our beloved culture, as Mr. Sven Väth put it „I would like to share with you the album of Harald Björk… which has soothed me and I hope will also give you a soundtrack for these uneasy days“. It felt right to release it.

The release was shrinked from a thought of vinyl box to a digital release with future plans on vinyl. However covid decided to stay and time went. The queue at the vinyl factories didn’t make the process easier… But at one point the dream factory of Kranglan Broadcast decided, enough! , the world has to keep on dreaming. And what is a better way to embrace dreams then to release a vinyl full of dreamers, groundbreaking in their corners of the electronic umbrella. Dreamers doing their thing not even looking at the norm or what’s the recent hype.'

'CRUISE is a Moscow-based night that focuses on 90s finest — old school hip-hop, garage house, breakbeat hardcore and jungle. Every once in a while local vinyl enthusiasts, artists and radio hosts from Wax Ninja crew (Artem Xio, Foxxylove and MB4) and Tiger Balms crew (Skye, Fine) gather nostalgic music lovers so that they can cruise through different BPMs and genres in a home-like atmosphere.

This release is the essence of CRUISE captured on tape: 15 tracks from the crème de la crème of the Russian underground scene. A full-scale journey into the sound of drum machines, analog synths, obscure samples and what not; a heart-warming homage to music from New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, London, Manchester, Essex, Bristol and different cities across Italy.

N-Tone, Maxi Skratch and Luge are there with their beats and scratches; HI TOP and Osipenko Bus Stop (Ant To Be when he makes jungle) deliver some proper UKG; Keroz and DJ 0000 (DJ 1985’s alter ego) are going deep and melodic; Cream Soda, BRTS, Scruscru & S.Timoshenko and Heavy Blunt fill this tape with house bangers; Artem Xio, Mix Master Kutyma, FTRRLT alongside Amsterdam native Reactor Grits do breakbeat and drum’n’bass. And don’t forget about the funny skits that turn this compilation into an 90s style album that tells a story.

Exclusive: Erell Ranson - Pregnancy Vibes

The eights installment on Berlin-based label Melcure, the hybrid label of Melisma and Cure Music, comes from northern French artist Erell Ranson delivering the musical goodies that vary between House and Techno and cover a huge amount of moody melodic melancholic dramatic theory. Releasing music since the 90s on labels such as Kalahari Oyster Cult, LW-Recordings or Gestalt Records Nicolas Petitjean, Erell Ranson's real name, surely hits a nerve with his latest four tracker on Melcure. The B1 Pregnancy Vibes comes in rather chill with its calming pad-sounds, the ghost-esque or spooky intermezzo and  chords riding an old-school almost Detroit-ish bass line, meaningly sounding raw and unique and purposely not as smooth as a lot of productions these days. With every beat hitting and every chord floating over it Pregnancy Vibes comes closer to bear the perfect soundtrack for a nine month ride with a life long impact.

This is the splendid deep follow up EP by our favorite Liverpool artist Petals In Sound. After her great label debut last summer where she already showed us her wonderful atmospheric electronic sound, she now continues on a journey through that same spaced- out house territory. “Dial Tone” and “Lush” are both laid back groovers that sooth every dancefloor and are perfect late, or better, early hours tunes to steer dancers gently towards sunrise and out of smoke filled clubs, homewards with warm musical memories of a danced and spaced out night.
“The Sea and Everything in It” is a personal fave here as it combines great percussive rhythms with her unique style, arpeggios and dark synths electronica, deep like a warm spring day. The outdoor raves will be a perfect setting for this one! Last we asked our other new label member Pete Bandit from Berlin to remix “Lush”. With his own debut “Wild Feelings” he already set the tone showcasing his expert percussive and driving house sound. Here again he turned the original into a loopy “New York House” style jam with cool funky drums that fit in perfectly with the other tracks and make this whole EP a tight and delightful package.
