What better time for an enchanting, smile-inducing end of summer treat from John Digweed’s Bedrock label? Two of Lebanon’s finest and most influential DJ/Producers have joined forces to create the deeply delicious ‘Bring It Back’, and the label has enlisted OC & Verde to create a distinctive big-room powerhouse remix to complete this excellent package.

Elias Merheb aka 3LIAS, perhaps best known as legendary resident at Beirut’s iconic B018 club, has found a creative soul brother in Ali Ajami, whose is currently a resident at überhaus (The Gärten), the city’s most exciting venue right now and recently featured here: http://mixmag.net/feature/the-belly-o.... By channelling their unlimited combined creativity, ‘Bring It Back’ exhibits a highly accomplished musical vibe and live-jam attitude. Beefing things up with a booming bottom end and upping the energy quotient significantly, Manchester’s OC & Verde (aka Ben O’Connor & Jon Verde) boldly take ‘Bring It Back’ into big room territory, spicing things up further with a monstrous drop to create a potential dancefloor destroyer for many months to come. Tronic has been at the forefront of the electronic underground scene for more than a decade and is considered one of the top selling techno labels in the world. Its boss, Christian Smith was introduced to Drunken Kong during a trip to Tokyo, where the Japanese duo are somewhat local legends, holding down a residency at Womb amongst many other spots in the city.

Now with 4 EP’s under their belt, they announce their debut album this June, but first they have a teaser EP to show us what’s to come with “Life We Knew”.
The EP kicks off with “Life We Knew”, delivering a rolling sub to set the tone and a deep synth horn which tangles with another sinister vocal.
“The Rhythm” comes at you with an infectious and hypnotic vocal, accompanied by a fearless low end. Crunchy percussion and synth stabs echo throughout - heavy hitter for every warehouse out there, whereas a bouncing bass sets a funkier tone for “Mission”.

Premiere: Tomy DeClerque & Dani Sbert - Overload [Toolroom]

Senso’s approach to delivering the finest in pulsating, dancefloor rocking techno continues with the release of the Level 04 EP. Featuring four killer tracks by four different artists, the EP provides
a welcome reminder of the rude health techno finds itself in during 2017/18. 
First up are STAB Virus, the South African duo of Siphe Tebeka and Makonwabe Bekwa, who are making waves internationally with their uncompromising style. Accompanied by Citizen Kain
- the French producer is adding his own signature slant. 'Torium' is a starkly effective slice of streamlined, sharp edged techno. Label favourite Carlo Ruetz carved out a niche for himself with
his ‘twisted technoid minimal’ sound, a philosophy he continues to adhere to here - 'Sky's Black' bubbles with menace and attitude, fizzing over into moments of barely restrained euphoria.
Mr. Bizz - the duo of two Italian brothers Fabrizio and Matteo Floris - maintain the quality with their cut 'Algarve' - a muscular techno outing with a narcotic, wonky edge. Another regular on the label - the UK’s dubspeeka brings his own flavour to proceedings - 'Aakash' is a superbly crafted burner - a pulsating rhythm track punctuated by abstracted melodic hits.

We look back on five years full of constant growth, of ups and downs, of good music and even better music. Five years of Jannowitz Records with releases between house and techno, with big names and local artists, with new friends and old companions - with your beloved underground sound!

The label took two opportunities to celebrate its birthday in 2019. Two opportunities to showcase the diverse sound of what the label beholds: the "Alive & Death" compilations.

“Alive EP” is the part of the birthday compilation that focuses on a more minimal sound than its brother Death.

Graham Webb aka Webby from the UK likes to describe his style as “dark bouncy” - but for “Alive” he made a very straightforward and evil dance floor machine called “The Hive”.
