Vilnius producer Ponty Mython has been a revelation in 2016, impressing first with a scintillating EP on Quartet Series and later with the follow up - the hugely popular Life, Love, Changes EP on Berlin label Dirt Crew Recordings (Check it out below). The artist has become a stalwart at the imprint joining a new wave of talent, making moves alongside the likes of Brame & Hamo and Nachtbraker. This week Ponty rolls by WWD HQ to deliver the latest edition of the Select Cuts mix series and he does not disappoint. This one is a real peach, you're gonna it on the system all week long. Enjoy!

After seven years in the game and a number of various side projects, Apparel Music has recently announced another venture. Apparel Wax, the newest addition to curator Giuseppe D'Alessandro aka KiSk's lineup is one strictly for the heads with the focus being solely on the music. The artists of each release will not be revealed but will rather all be under the collective umbrella of the Apparel Wax brand. The direction of the music will be largely influenced by disco, funk and jazz. It seems that the new catalogue is already catching on as the first release is currently sitting at number 5 on the deep house best sellers list on Juno.

We were of course naturally quite curious to find out some more details about the new project and managed to get some further insight from Giuseppe himself, as well as a fresh mix with current and forthcoming Apparel Wax gems. Read the full interview below!

SlothBoogie Guestmix #211 - Kristy Harper

I met Fred in 1992 on my first ever DJ gig in Quebec City. We became friends and I’ve been a fan of his music ever since. I still remember the pride I felt when I put the needles on his first record in 1995 so I decided to put together a mix to celebrate 25 years of music in 25 tracks.

This mix is neither chronological nor a “Best Of”, It’s rather a collection of my own personal favourites of Originals, Remixes, Collaborations, Bootlegs that have marked my musical journey through the years in a discography that spans over 2 and half decades and over 250 releases.

I hope you will find as much joy as I did discovering or rediscovering the many moods and many shades of Fred Everything.

I sat down with Fred to play him my mix and reminisce a little about the events, places and meetings that led to the existence of those tracks.

1.Fred Everything feat Rise Ashen - Find Your Way [20:20 Vision] UK 2004
From my second album, Light Of Day featuring Rise Ashen from Ottawa who also sang on the title track. This one showcases a slightly more electro influence, written shortly after Here (Now) released as a b-side of the single Over You which came out a year before the album.

2.Fred Everything - Revolution [20:20 Vision] UK 1999
One of my biggest “hits” from my first album Under The Sun on 20:20 Vision which was also licensed by Turbo for North America. Tiga had an idea to do a video for it, which was filmed in an arena in Westmount. It features myself on vocals, through a Talk Box. I was using an Atari at the time without any audio so I used to have to sample every phrase and sometimes words and sequence it after.

Tribute to FRED EVERYTHING - Selected by Phil Larochelle

I don’t know about you but the past 2 months have been the longest year of my life. The days melting into one another made me rethink the whole concept of time. In Montreal, everything happened in those 2 months where we think we’re getting out of the winter but it’s all a big lie. Living in the present moment is a great exercise, but it often comes with things to look forward to.
The only thing I’ve looked forward to lately is good news. We’ve been hurt bad over here and we’re not out of the woods yet. But the weather is getting nicer, we’re finally allowed to see each other again (slowly). Good music, just like hope, is there for whoever seeks it. 

Show #90. Lots of cool break/broken beats and jazzy deep house flavours this month. I decided to showcase 3 artists that each have 2 tracks in the show : Simbad (SMBD), Hiatt DB and Nuff Pedals.
Also, killer new music from the Sonar Kollektiv clan, AtJazz Records Company, Waajeed’s Remix of Thatmanmonkz, Prins Thomas remixing Detroit Swindle, newcomer Clive from Accounts as well as Jimpster’s beautiful still unreleased remix of Jonatan Backelie.
