Premiere: Laure feat. VËR - Light (Beije Remix) [The Purr]

A welcome returnee to the Proton Music fold, Savvas Karabinos, has been a regular on the flagship label since a 2019 debut remixing Turkish star, Erdi Irmak. Two further remixes for Rick Pier O'Neil followed in 2020 and 2021 before a debut original EP appeared in the shape of February 2022's 3-track "Reminisce" including remixes from RIGOONI and Vridian. A second EP followed a year later with "Crescent Moon" as another trio of powerful original tracks were paired with remixes from Juan Deminicis and Andrea Cassino.

Now returning with another musical triptych, "Craving Spaces" is redolent in the rich sonic landscapes of textured pads and dreamy melodic passages. Underpinned by a heavy beat and huge sub-bassline, haunting motifs sit atop creating an air of elegant juxtaposition against the hypnotic rhythm. As the seasons shift from late summer to another Northern Hemisphere autumn, "Falling Leaves" enthrals with its subtle melancholy of light melodic touches following the narrative of its predecessor. Immaculately cadenced synths are used to develop a swathe of cascading musical ideas while textured pads create a vivid sonic landscape. A driving beat and ticking percussive hi-hats add to the picture in another moment of rare beauty. The final track sees "We Are" immediately carry on the mantle of driving rhythmic force combined with perfectly placed deep house chords and floating chord progressions that swim across the stereo spectrum. The delayed vocal effects and vibrant arpeggio of a post-breakdown second half creates a dynamic and powerful track.

An Australian artist with an impressive reputation within the underground dance fraternity, Patrick Carrera has been at the vanguard of progressive, organic and deep house sounds for over a decade. Through his MUUI moniker, over 500 production credits thus chart a path across such esteemed imprints as Sudbeat Music, Global Underground and Eelke Klein's Outside The Box, plus a further 300 credits on his own Here Now. A trio of remixes for Proton Music dating back to 2014 and a reworking of Kobana, have seen subsequent rerubs of Imran Khan and Mark Slee in 2019 and 2020 as MUUI returns for the first time in over 4 years. Reimagining "Falling Leaves", MUUI's skill is create a silky-smooth version that retains the laid-back melodic groove of the original while creating a rhythmic foundation that retreats elegantly into the mix in the early phases, while a deep and resonant kick drives the track forwards. Making full use of Savvas' original components a raft of additional production evolves in the second half including a sumptuous twinkling arpeggio and vocal touches, creating a triumphant remix.

Based in the capital of the Ontario province, Beije have carved out an impressive niche from their Toronto home. Able to point to a double century of production credits on the likes of Harabe, Café De Anatolia and The Purr, a pair of Proton Music remixes for Juan Deminicis and Lisandro in 2022, paved the way for 2024's remarkable "Ardere" EP in August 2024". The 3-track original EP was chock-full of masterful production technique and trademark melodic touch, showcasing the Canadian pair's inimitable style and craft. Now returning for a third remix, Beije have captured a delicate dancefloor groove with the muted and cadenced chords that fill the melodic spaces of the original. Moreover, the addition of diaphanous and free-flowing piano phrasing at the mind-point and through the third movement adds a subtle and delicate touch to proceedings, completed further by subtle vocal effects. The result is another stunning Beije production.

With the addition of immaculate remixes from MUUI and Beije, Savvas has found that "Craving Spaces" is the perfect way to showcase a trio of exceptional new original works.

Continuing a strong start to the year, Madloch's Sound Avenue welcomes Beije back to the label for a new artist showcase. Based in Canada, the Beije production duo first emerged in 2019 with a release via Paul Hazendonk's Manual Deep imprint. Noted for their deep, hypnotic yet musical sound, the Toronto duo would find success in short order, landing subsequent projects with Stripped Digital and 3rd Avenue, the latter of which preceded their Sound Avenue debut via the label's popular Correlation series in 2020. Seemingly in perpetual motion moving forward, the next four calendar years would see Beije continue to refine their sound, adding key projects via Nordic Voyage, Proton Music, Songuara and Where The Shadow Ends, while also solidifying themselves as trendsetting DJs in Toronto's burgeoning nightlife. With a 2023 remix of Jean Caillou's ‘There' marking Beije's most recent Sound Avenue appearance, the duo now finds their way back to the label as 2025 begins, unveiling a new three-track artist EP ‘Monarch'.

Number twenty-one on San Francisco’s Manjumasi is the Titans EP from renowned Australian producer Jamie Stevens. With well over twenty years production experience under his belt, notably as a founding member of Infusion, Jamie brings a uniquely detailed and sophisticated flair to each of his productions. The two originals on this EP are no exception. Lead track Titans balances many layers of clever melodic synth-work over a rock-solid and pleasantly punctuated bass groove. This is followed up by Blush, a moodier piece built around a gentle but insistent crescendo of brass harmonies, evoking an open and expansive sonic space.

First up on remix duty are Bristol duo dubspeeka. Their interpretation of Titans repurposes the track’s core materials, crafting a supremely sturdy late-night number with heady, whirling percussion and a darker edge. Next up, Peruvian producer Luis Leon transforms Blush with a mix that dials up the nuance and sensuality, bringing the track’s deep and delicate elements into focus, with the result being a highly alluring auditory collage. Finally, Manjumasi’s own Naveen G turns in his own take on Titans, a driving dancefloor take with no shortage of punch, deep bass, and a gritty modern progressive tone on the lead melodies that will keep this track pushing the dancefloor forwards.

Returning to Proton Music after a successful 2019, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat present a bright new vision with "Beyond the Future, Vol. 1".

From Cali, south-west of the Bogota capital, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat have been pivotal in advancing their country's underground dance movement. Rising out of the Cauca Valley, the duo has been responsible for a swathe of high-profile music. Both successful artists in the own rights, Sanclemente has amassed over 450 production credits since a debut for Suite 7 Records in 2013, going on to feature on some of the most prestigious independent imprints including Massive Harmony Records, Univack and Nick Warren's "Balance Presents the Soundgarden" in late 2018. A relative newcomer to the underground scene, Dabeat's solo work has seen him feature for BeatFreak Recordings, Pollen Flug Records and Freegrant Music.

Joining forces, the collaborative pairing has consistently hit the headlines with their distinctive brand of progressive house, lighting up the likes of Mango Alley, Hope and UV. January 2019 saw a Proton Music debut in the shape of the outstanding "Spiral Patterns", further enhanced by a remix from Brazilian maestro, Andre Sobota. A remix for Peter Makto & Gregory S's "Purple Rain" was another notable highlight in May as Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat return with the first in a series of EPs that follow in the footsteps laid by Erdi Irmak and Rick Pier O'Neil, as they start out "Beyond the Future".

Opener, "Zemula", is full of rhythmic prowess as a strong percussive groove lays the perfect foundation for rippling arpeggios and siren synth lead to course through the 8-min offering. Ambient effects and sweeping risers add additional texture to a wonderful club floor-filler. The complementary tracks of "Feline" and "Ausar" delight with their languorous rhythmic patterns as grooved plucks and clever bassline sequences add rich syncopation. Unhurried lead lines ripple across proceedings to create flowing melodic patterns while atmospheric vocal phrases add depth. The driving kick and off-beat percussion of "Asgard" provides immediate dancefloor character, tempered by stratified layers of arpeggiated sequences and rising pad progressions that reach a crescendo in a tension-fuelled breakdown. Rhythm and melody then combine once more in the third movement to maximum effect.

With its seething atmosphere, "Aerology", is a mesmerising collage of grooved bassline and melodic motif that provide a superb counterweight to intelligently programmed percussion. Adding to the aural melange a relentless sequence builds post-breakdown to strong effect before "Magma" spews forth with bristling power and dancefloor heat. Flowing hypnotically through arpeggiated phrase, a counterpoint chord progression provides weight before a grooved melodic line opens up in the second half, creating a dynamic and powerful climax.

Six tracks of the highest order see Kamilo Sanclemente securing the present while looking firmly "Beyond the Future".

Luttrell - Twin Souls

Following the huge success of the singles I'll Kill You and Capricciosa, and the subsequent success of his 'Moons Of Yesterday' album, now it's time to present the first remix single from Namatjira's most recent body of work.

Remix single might not be the completely correct description here, as only one new remix is included. It comes from the hand of rising star RIGOONI who you might know from his recent work on labels such as The Soundgarden, Balance Music and MNL. He has turned the only instrumental piece of Namatjira's album, 'Sounds Of Sunday Morning' into a deep and organic piece of house music. Proper warm up and/or chill out material here, simply stunning!

On the flipside you'll find a brand new original by Namatjira titled 'Animali'. The Dutch producer created so many great songs that it was incredibly hard to make the track selection for his 'Moons Of Yesterday' LP. This song was simply too good not to be released, so it was decided to add it to this first "remix single" and give it the spotlight it deserves.
