Daniel Tissingh began playing a found and broken classical guitar – repaired by a Venezuelan electrician – spending his pre-teen years in community housing in southern Spain with the constant ebb and flow of diverging nationalities and ages, and myriad musical delights.  At 14 he used his saved pocket money to buy a 30 watt amp, 2 plectrums, a lead and a very rusty-stringed fake Strat.

The recent story is predictable: bands, upgrading gear, teaching guitar all over town, more bands, shitty gig nights with shitty promoters, degree at Goldsmiths University, more song writing, and eventually, present day. 

The latest is a five track EP entitled The Road You Walk, which will be released on Friday the 4th of November. Produced by long-term collaborator Daniel Moyler this is the first body of work since their warmly received full-length album early last year. Recorded in the contrasting arenas of Miloco Studios and dingy home set-ups, the EP merges two live vocal/acoustic performances, live rhythm section, and a heap of harmony overdubs. It will be delivered through a series of weekly singles dotted throughout the month of October - ending with a live bonus track as part of the full EP. Each of the four singles is inspired by life’s most common interactions: friend, family, partner, and stranger. The Road You Walk invites them all (in that order) to the same banquet - a respite on life’s worn path - to celebrate the commonality of our struggle and existence.

As an orchestrator and composer, he has made his name working alongside numerous independent artists and composers. His drive for collaboration has brought him to deliver at the likes of Abbey Road Studios, Air, Spitfire Audio, The Barbican, The Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, Maida Vale and St. Pancras Old Church to name a few. He first discovered his passion for collaborating in the now memorialised studios; Brit Row (where he met Jasper Dent) and Neighbourhood (home to UK band 'Athlete'), sowing the seeds of his craft at the prestigious BRIT School, then growing roots at Goldsmiths University Of London, where he honed his skills in orchestration, arrangement and composition. His signature cello style frequently stretches the bounds of the instrument through the use of harmonics and extended techniques and acoustic effects while also tapping into digital effects and influences in minimalism & romantics.

In 2019 he stepped into the world of production sound on high-end tv dramas to stretch his horizons. Only a few years later, he holds some world-renowned projects under his belt and continues to be sought after for his expertise here. See some of these projects below.
