STARTING TO END AGAIN

It's the sound of a certain melody, the scent of a particular flower, the view of a specific area, a color or the gentle flavor of an instrument that instantly takes you back to a time and place that has long since passed.
Memories have a powerful effect on us and can stir up emotions that we thought were long gone.

In this soft orchestral work I want to express this tide of memories about my baby daughter. I dedicate this music to her, who has grown up to a young lady, meanwhile. She is still playing her favorite instrument: the clarinet.

For this reason, this piece of music puts the clarinet in the spotlight, accompanied by a piano and gentle orchestra.

I dedicate this piece of music to all people who are overwhelmed by memories about a dear person who has grown up.

This 4 track recording is of an experimental song from the late 80s. One of those where you jam around a little and put something together quickly. You can hear that we were winging some of the lyrics. We were in our late teens. These recordings were just products of our love for making music together. We never really played the tapes for anyone other than ourselves or maybe a few friends at that time, although our family members would come through the room from time to time to see what we were up to. I have a vivid memory of working on this in our "sun room" at the back of the house and my dad walking in to get something (probably a pack of Camel unfiltered he kept near his recliner), so we played it for him. He listened intently, maybe out of parental obligation more than interest, since we were taking up his space to retreat and watch baseball or read the paper. At the end he sort of smirked/laughed at our lyrics about trouble sleeping and financial stress with a quick "sounds good" and walked out. You could see in his face that he was thinking... "just wait, you don't know the half of it boys!" As dads of teens/young adults now I think Morry and I can both appreciate this in a whole new light. Hope our FB friends this one.
