Señor Chugger, a prolific Bristol-based producer and remixer, makes his debut on Wrong Era with an EP filled with his unique blend of euphoric synth lines and sophisticated, arcane themes. His music immerses listeners in a synth-ridden realm, offering a collection of instant classics. The EP, 'Sunset On The A38' , also includes remixes from Wrong Era Label heads Sesto Senso and fellow label affiliate Radondo.

Señor Chugger sets the tone with '75 To Seafront ', a track that kicks the release into high gear. The tight, weighty drums and metallic pads create a powerful backdrop, while the descending bass-arp adds a visceral element. '75 To Seafront' seamlessly combines Chugger's monstrous bass tones and fluttering emotional melodies, creating a journey of euphoria with each rhythmic combination.

'Party In A Field In Cornwall' flirts with flashes of early UK house and Señor Chuggers special blend of Italo Disco. A creamy synth line, singing over a rasping, defined bass riff, unfolds into the mix. Still in keeping with the solidity of the intro track, percussion is robust and melodics are carefully detailed. The midway point of the EP is marked with the endlessly emotive and sophisticated 'Festival Skyline'. Painting an artful sonic depiction of its title' Festival Skyline' breathes a modern breath onto the golden era of new wave with choral harmonies that bring a tear to the eye and a bassline that anchors these emotions.

Stepping into the synthwave 'From The Harbour' weaves into flange-soaked electro. A swirling synth hook dances over a pulsating bass arp. Deliciously tuned vocoder lines swim through the crisp instrumentation with punctual vocal stabs. Choral pads join the medley preempting sliced vocal chops that put his elegant sound design on full display. These vocals whip across the stereo field, concluding the track's excitement.

'Sunset On The A38' closes with the fittingly named Devon Expressway. An anthemic pad-driven atmospheric piece with dimly lit twilight imagery. A tweeting synthline clambers over the augmented low-end hinting at the central theme to come. Haunting choral synths chant and swathes of pads sweep through the arrangement. A CMI cries out, and an enigmatic melody pricks the ears. Señor Chugger combines his innate gift of pushing genre boundaries, painting sonic scenes with effortless charm.

Along with these 5 shimmering tracks, label heads Sesto Senso and Wrong Era's Radondo join the release with remixes of '75 To Seafront' and 'Festival Skyline'. The illustrious collaboration of Fabrizio Mammarella and Franz Scala brings their signature metallic arps and earth-shattering drums to the remix. Respectfully lifting key elements from the original and injecting them with their infectiously energetic flair, a peak-time dancefloor gem is born. Radondo gives 'Festival Skyline' a stripped-back rework, letting the choral harmonies of the original shine forth. His signature percussive approach tows the line for an infectious bassline to dance below the arps of Señor Chugger.

Cleaning up my computer and files I came across many tracks I've done in the past that are useless and horrible. Buuut I found a couple that I felt could work pretty well nowadays. Everyone is playing fast, so let's just go back in time to my hard drive 7 to 10 years ago and enjoy some 105 to 110 bpm tunes. Repetitive, groovy, heavy basslines and a good old snare.

James Rod, head of Golden Soul and a steady force in the European underground makes his Inner Shah debut with Warmer Korper—a three-tracker that threads body music with darker shades of disco and synth work. Skorpion Gewinnt moves in a more melodic, hypnotic direction, laced with a subtle dystopian tone. In order to see, we need light. But we are not blind in the darkness. Our eyes adapt to the darkness and we see contours and shapes. Only colours are hard to differentiate. That’s why we say, ‘All cats are grey at night’. Darkness lets you feel all your other senses much stronger. For example, you hear much better.
That’s why Benno Blome’s debut album “Night Shots” is best heard after sunset. Each of these tracks are like a picture taken under low light, where schemes and structures come together in the process of its development. The night itself becomes the target here.
Each part of every track is scheduled to be experienced during the nightfall. The absence of daylight is the concept where adrenaline rushes through the veins like cars driving through city streets. Traffic, people, clubs, flashlights – everything shines in shapes and forms.
After 18 years of music production, countless EP’s and remixes on his own imprint, Sender, and befriended labels like Bar25, it was finally time for Benno Blome to drop his first full length album. He noticed a strong current running though his productions, that interconnected his album already. So he came out of the studio with some brand new material (“Spherical Aberration”, “White Flag”, “Full Frame”, “High Grain”, “Lense Distortion” as well as an edit of “Have Some”) and bound it together with his favourite recent tracks (“Abotha“, “Father Of Birds”, “Drop Out”, “Check Check”, “Jac Jac” and “People Keep On”). The plan turned out even better than expected, as the combination of all these track tied together and created an almost magical, maybe even addictive flow. As you would expect, the storyboard to this flow was written by Benno and the night. But he had help by some good friends as well. “People Keep On” was coproduced by Kotelett & Zadak, “Lense Distortion” by Daniel Dreier and “Father of Birds” by Hopperider.
Another strong influence on Night Shots is definitely Chicago Jackin’ House. Jackin’ 909-beats and vocal cuts, minimised dub-sounds from his favourite analogue Synthesizer, Prophet 8 are the main ingredients here.
