R$N Records sub-label, Insult to Injury, has a delectable new offering of assorted bangers upcoming in September, in the form of various remixes from Timothy Clerkin’s Fading EP. Employing the inimitable talents of some of the underground’s finest producers, the diverse package has something for every occasion!

First up on remix duties is Manchester based producer, Lapalace, returning to ITI with a dark, distorted remix of Sigma. Stripping back the original Techno thumper, upping the tempo to Breakbeat territory, the track is torn to shreds, chopping and reusing the original elements, rounding it off with a weighty sub that will have any bass bin quaking uncontrollably.

As a producer xceptor creates what makes his heart pound, his blood stream, his mind race and his feet move. This results in eclecticism that has almost no red line in it, but creates an overall feeling of excitement, melancholy and/or a grimy dark side. Together this creates a world where anything can happen, a world where freedom is the only important thing. 

The Rotterdam based producer releases his debut EP on local label Feed The Void. ‘De Wandeling’ is more than just a peaceful walk in the park, it’s a journey through another dimension. Opener ‘Paranoïde Boswandeling’ takes us on a trip through a dark forest laden with unsettling synth stabs and harrowing arpeggios . Next up is the steady pacer ‘Veengrond’, an atmospheric stroll through an open field of resonant synthesizers and comforting bass lines that lul the listener into a false sense of security. To follow is the ominous dystopian driver ‘Bezeten Steeg’; a dark electro track that grows effortlessly throughout until it’s a pounding peak time masterpiece. EP closer ‘Astronaut Onder Water’ borrows elements from 80s post-punk and combines them with breakbeats to create a euphoric ending to this wonderful trip.

In the quiet waters of a pond, tiny green spheres float each with a cluster of cells working together in perfect harmony. This is Volvox, a simple multicellular algae organism, nurturing new colonies in its heart, waiting to grow and flourish. Similarly, in the vibrant skateboarding and music scene of French-speaking Switzerland, a young producer named Dimosoundz emerged from within a tight-knit community. Like the Volvox, he absorbed the influences around him, growing his own creative voice from the heart of this dynamic environment. This premise, both visually and sonically representative, marks the release before you.

Dimosoundz is the creative force behind Dimitri Roulin, embodying his musical ethos by fusing personal influences into a rhythmic experience grounded in his passion for bass-heavy music. Although his background as a breakdancer served a subconscious basis towards his current signature style, his journey as a producer began with a unique academic project that merged skateboarding, electronic and sampled sounds. From being deeply rooted in the Romandy skate scene is where he discovered 90s jungle and related sister genres, drawing inspiration from the community’s emphasis on autonomy, support, and authenticity which cemented HTGSW. 

Much like his lifelong fascination with water and its mysterious underworld, Dimosoundz explores vast, unknown realms in his music through obscure samples and non-musical elements whilst infusing his work with a playful, exploratory spirit. For him, music, skateboarding and underwater exploration are paths of creativity and discovery—parallel journeys of digging beneath the surface to find something new. Though seemingly fresh out of the water but already making waves within the Helvetian scene, Dimosoundz brings an original perspective, blending his unique experiences into a sound distinctly his own.

Antwerp-based producer BAELY announces his debut solo album, Isle of Lag. Rooted in a DIY punk rock work ethos, Isle of Lag outrageously explores distorted electronic paths with hyperpop twists and turns. The album is set for digital release on November 8 via Belgian label Cloudshaper.

As this is the 7th vinyl release on W133 we thought of something special and present to you the first ever 7inch record from us! „Girls Just Wanna Have Fun“ on the A side is a vicious party starter with stomping groove and naughty vocals embracing the good old party fling. On the flip side Noti shows off the darker side of love with „Phase Mistress“. Boundary-pushing composer and sound designer Andi Otto returns with his new album ‘Rwandance’, which sees live instruments, studio recordings and sampled archival material melded together as part of an electrifying reimagining of the musical traditions of Rwanda.

‘Rwandance’ is a collaboration between Rwandan dancer and musician Evariste Karinganire and cello player and electronic music producer Andi Otto, brought together by a chance connection. Inspired by Steve Reich, Mark Pritchard’s Harmonic 313 and Otto’s mesmerising musical experiences touring India, Otto built software to translate the intensity of Karinganire’s hand claps into different synth notes - the structure and time signature of traditional Rwandan music providing the framework for Otto’s creations, new instruments and sounds incorporated into its parameters.

Otto follows a path similar to many producers from Latin America’s burgeoning electronic music scene but instead of using Andean folk music as a starting point, he reappraises Rwandan music mirroring traditional sounds but similarly, reimagined through a contemporary lens. ‘Rwandance’ follows Otto’s 2016 link-up with Indian singer and actress M.D. Pallavi and underground hit ‘Bangalore Whispers’, a showcase for his original approach to cross-cultural musical dialogue. He has since cemented that reputation with subsequent albums “Via” and “Bow Wave”, weaving global sounds into his distinct sonic approach.

Shika Shika is a home for music that combines organic and electronic sounds, a meeting place between the past and the future. (They also put an emphasis on supporting artists, splitting profits in their favour.) This chimes exactly with what Otto wanted to achieve in his collaboration with Karinganire, taking deeply-rooted traditions and giving them a new sonic make-up.

Japanese artist Maiko Okimoto aka Lemna returns to Horo following her acclaimed EP for the SNTS helmed label ‘Sacred Court’. Retrocausality is 2 EP’s that continue her genre-less approach to electronic music. Aligned most closely to the Grey Area sound that Sam KDC and ASC have been expanding on in recent years, Maiko’s approach is singular. The reality of her music working on dance-floors for Techno audiences is a happily incidental result and not a structural design. Maiko’s music comes entirely from an innate feeling transferred into grooves and ethereal ambience.

Retrocausality works with the concept of the crossover between the spirit world and science - for example, the commonality of thoughts and theories in Buddhist philosophy and Quantum Physics. The realms of these are divided, but essentially the concepts are similar.

The EP’s title ‘Retrocausality’ implies that we can perceive this world from both in terms of ‘A Priori’ (from cause) and ‘A Posteriori’ (from result).

The tracks on Retrocausality represent an accurate cross section of Maiko’s musical style, from the other worldly ambience of Supervoid to the rhythmic winding of Thusness and the heads down floor tunnel of Sattva.

At a time when electronic music is becoming less adventurous as a whole, Lemna represents a beacon of intrigue.

There was a strange, mysterious object which floated in the dense night sky. It flashed an electric green, illuminous and weird amidst a backdrop of delicate stars. It left a lot to the imagination - what was inside? Who was in flight? Were these creatures from the great beyond? It had been a long time since they'd last seen a UFO around these parts, not since the hot and heavy summer nights of the sixties. Then again, who knew what they'd seen way back then in the days of old. It was but a blur to him, a psychedelic haven of rage and madness.

A little while back we featured a mix from the ever playful musician and producer Your Planet Is Next. A Scandinavian superhero of sorts who has come to save the day from snobby enthusiasts and those who take life too seriously. He appears on a new split EP for Warning Records with a track called "UFO".

Alexander Pletnev returns to V's label Le Temps Perdu with his EP 'Voranto Bros', consisting of two original tracks, namely 'Voranto Bros' and 'Hope They Won't Come Back', and two remixes respectively a drum mix of the EP's eponymous track. On remix duties we find 'Discodromo' and Harold Boué aka Abstraxion aka Lion's Drums from Biologic Records who dedicates himself to 'Hope They Won't Come Back' and delivers a heavily rhythmical take that smoothly changes directions when, almost half way in, disco-ish pads take over and add a dark twist to the take that continues to soak its audience deeper and deeper into its fascinating magic before the track fades out and leaves one back with the urge to press rewind to return to the drums and dark synth sounds.
