Heavenly Italo Synth Disco at its very finest

After a string of well-received works published on vital outlets such as Club Mackan, HEARec, and Under The Trees, Mundo D is finally back on (the equally vital) Espacio Cielo featuring his second EP on the Spanish powerhouse: “Bladepunk” comes brimming with four peak-time beasts divided into two pure-energy-soaked originals and two ravishing remixes made with love by Mmyylo and Parissior (SXDNS206), the label boss himself.

Mmyylo, the mastermind behind the version we were solicited to premiere/review, in turn, makes his better-late-than-never debut on Espacio after also delivering a string of well-received cuts put out on NEIN, Global Underground, My Secret Agenda, Sincopat, Side Up Works, and Dust & Blood, just to mention a few.

By decreasing the BPM of the opening theme from 124 to 116, Mmyylo may have changed the mood but not the grandeur of the original. He has respectfully kept the main elements, the Italo-meets-EBM aura, the robustness, and the gait of Mundo D’s creation, but now “Outta Space” belongs to a new sphere for a proper trip in “slow motion”.

From the vibrant city of Barcelona, Martin Noise plunges us into his latest EP titled "Con M," released under the Mexican label, Duro Label. This EP features three captivating original tracks and two remixes, the first by the Swedish artist Elfenberg, and the second crafted by the unparalleled Roe Deers.

The odyssey begins with "Mucho Manglar," a solid, percussive, and acidic track that hooks you from the first moment. The combination of the bassline and drums keeps you in check, while the percussion and synthesizers transport you to a jungle of sounds. Next up is "Macumba," a collaboration with DELLA that unleashes an electrifying rhythmic spell. The funky bass, percussion section, and acidic leads come together to create the perfect enchantment that will keep you moving to the rhythm of its magic.

To conclude the original versions, we have "Martelli," a resounding, hypnotic, and bustling track. The persistent drums, twisted bassline, reverberating vocals, and soothing synthesizers immerse you in a hypnotic experience, accompanied by nocturnal keyboards that add a layer of intrigue to the journey. Next is the remix of "Macumba" by Elfenberg, a track that reveals an interpretation full of acidic nuances. The electrifying bassline, delicate keyboards, resonant synthesizers, and soft pad lead you through a dreamlike landscape. The second remix, by Roe Deers, presents us with a solid and lysergic reinterpretation. The electric bass guides the journey through hallucinatory synthesizers, vocals, and percussion.

“Whisper” is Aural Trace´s latest production, a 2-original track EP which gathers all the good things we love about the Berlin-based musician: Synth waves infused with powerful bass lines, upbeat percussive elements and that melancholia touch toying with our feelings and emotional boundaries that get us have his music on repeat.

Originally from Chile and now a resident of Berlin, Manuel Ortuzar, aka Aural Trace, is not a new-comer in the scene, with releases on Ombral INTL, Bordello A Parigi, Melopée Records, Play Pal Music, Melodize, Logical Records, as well as his own label Odd Pleasures he co-founded with Max Ferrer, his binom of their common project Random Atlas. At Thisbe, we are delighted to welcome him and his new EP among the label´s catalogue.

With “Whisper”, Aural Trace delivers another well-crafted EP, highlighting his mastery in music production, being also a mixing and mastering engineering by day.

The EP is completed by remixes by Rambal Cochet and Pyrame: Rambal Cochet takes the Goa Breaks route to produce a mix that drives the listener into an enigmatic self-reflective trip, while Pyrame brings the introspective voyage from the original mix into another side of our sub-conscience.

A steady electronic pulse runs through 'A New Member' by Roglar and Neburo, a stream of energy flowing across layers of analog sounds. The italian producer Francesco Cascella, adds a more melodic and melancholic touch, without losing any of the original track's vibrant italo spirit. His version amplifies the emotional depth while keeping the rhythmic core intact, offering a fresh perspective on the energetic pulse of the original.

Melodize kicks off 2025 with a bang, celebrating their 5th anniversary with their 17th release: a carefully curated compilation by label manager Beartrax.

To set the tone, Berlin-based producer Rotciv makes his return to Melodize with "Altered State": this track combines a driving, EBM-inspired bassline with a progressive build, blending trippy, atmospheric and acid-infused sounds. The bar is set high! Next, Berlin's PCL steps in with "I Want a Bad Girl", a track that fuses new wave and Italo disco. Expect a chunky bassline, shimmering 80s-style synth melodies, and irresistibly groovy rhythms. Dutch producer Laion turns up the intensity with an exquisite indie dance track that balances phat grooves, lush melodies, and beautifully layered harmonies. This one’s guaranteed to leave its mark on any dancefloor. Spanish duo Undo & Casiowaves take the mood in a different direction with their mesmerising electro-pop ballad. Melancholic yet uplifting, the track features vocals and guitars reminiscent of The Cure, creating an atmospheric lullaby that invites you to close your eyes and drift away. Berlin's rising star Micropacer follows with a dazzling homage to Daft Punk. Featuring vocoded vocals, sleek synth arpeggios, classy bass transitions and an enchanting melody that lingers in your mind, Armin truly delivers. Switching gears, British producer Louis de Tomaso delivers "Aurora", a powerful track that epitomises his signature style. Combine a hefty bassline, layered synth leads, lush pads, and an unrelenting rhythm, and you get a powerful, tension-filled piece rooted in EBM. Crossing the channel, French producer Back From The Wave brings us "Saturated Love", evoking the early sounds of Scratch Massive and The Hacker. It’s a dark yet delicate track brimming with emotion and sonic depth. Another well-known French artist, Nhar, now based in Milan, takes over with "Subspace", a deep and captivating track driven by a strong offbeat bassline and sublime pads. Evoking Balearic sounds reminiscent of José Padilla, it’s a piece that will transport you straight to Café del Mar. Finally, the compilation wraps up with label boss Beartrax himself, who delivers "Discrepancy". Blending film score influences with classical elements, this signature track features Beartrax’s beloved violin melodies alongside atmospheric electronic harmonies, closing the release on a high note.
