Born from the desire to link the world of the West & the East. The idea was to ask two artist/band from opposite ends of the world to collaborate on a split EP, with one original track each and finally to remix each others’ work.

For Volume 2, it is with honor that we present you to the Russian duo Radial Gaze en tête-à-tête with the Japanese Sensei crew called Que Sakamoto+NT. The second edition is filled with sleek baselines and gloomy atmospheres to make dance-floors sweat.

Dischi Autunno welcome Harold Boué to the fold for another full-strength cosmic expedition. Best known as Abstraxion – and, since last year, Lion’s Drums – Harold is the man behind the Biologic label and is renowned for his sprawling, hypnotising productions. As a deep as he is decorated, Abstraxion lives up to his name and rips you from the plugs of reality without safely disconnecting.
Take this EP; the lead track ‘Black Vulture’ hurls you into a space on a Black Strobe rocket that tears through black holes like us mere humanoids drink black coffee while the breakbeat-driven ‘Deleuze Fight’ flips us 360 in the anti-gravity flow sending us spiralling into an ocean of lasers. For a heavier intergalactic trip head for ‘Remember Bourdieu’ where more and more turbulence kicks in on every bar, creating a driving hypnotic intensity that you’ll never forget. Finally we crash back into reality with the fittingly nihilistic ‘Nietzsche’s Future’; spiralling, cascading arpeggios with more than a mild touch of prang; it’s a poignant end to yet another unique trip from Jennifer Cardini & Noura & Labbani’s Dischi Autunno imprint and Abstraxion himself.
And that’s before we even touch on the killer remix missions en route… Black Merlin cranks up the noir to mind-melting technoid levels on ‘Black Vulture’ while Interstellar Funk smelts ‘Deleuze Fight’ down to a deep dark acid swamp. What a trip…

10th release on the label comes from Bogdan from Saint-Petersburg, also known as Krjuk and member of duo Soft Metal. 

Four original tracks on the EP are full of breakbeat influences with acid lines and quirky percussions, filled with weird vocal cuts, wonky and atmospheric melodism. This combination ends up in some finest leftfield sound in the result.

We got Miskotom from Vilnius on the remix bringing dark and mystic vibe to the title track while ИДА co-founders Uninc & Kolomensky make a touch on ‘Sevkabel Acid’.

Denis Kolomensky is a DJ and producer based in Moscow. Throughout his musical path he experimented with a lot of musical genres and styles, from synth-pop to experimental underground cuts. He is the co-founder of record label ИДА, which absorbed that eclectic background and approach. Denis likes to combine different influences from wide range of music to create unusual and new sound in the end. On this EP he explores the dark side of his musical spectrum.

Bleach Cult is the musical nom de plume of Vytis Puronas, singer-songwriter and film sound designer, formerly one half of lo-fi synth pop outfit Soy Farm. His music is deeply textural and direct, with a genre-bending approach that explores post-punk aesthetics, minimal wave soundscapes and intriguing hooks with a sweet retro vibe.

Summertime Whiteout is a debut Bleach Cult album - the quirky ambient pop record that fantasizes about 1960s surf culture and romanticizes the neverending dilemmas of teen life. It is all about raw imperfections and beautiful spontaneity, captured live on a modular synthesizer, often relying on single takes and instinctive executions of tracks that leave little to no room for extensive tweaking and post-processing. Recorded in the living room at night it shies away from sophistication and complexity instead employing rough, rock and roll inspired ideas. Raw drifting analog sequences, pulsating textures and polychromatic vocals. No guitars or drum machines, however.

Madloch’s Sound Avenue continues a successful year by welcoming Nopi back to the label for his debut EP. The Ukrainian artist and organic house favourite has highlighted 2020 with a pair of remixes for the Belgian imprint, reworking Bigasti & Balad’s ‘The Days’ and ‘Pearl’ by Paula OS. Having built an impressive resume at just over eighteen months into his production journey, the Ukrainian talent also calls Akbal Music, Kindisch, Seven Villas and When We Dip XYZ home. Now embarking on his first EP project for Sound Avenue, Nopi presents his much anticipated four track showcase ‘Where To Go’ 

Already beloved for his melody crafting prowess, that sentiment will only grow with the title selection ‘Where To Go’. Anchored by a warm, progressive minded groove, its atmospheric scope comes up quickly, with glowing overlays and blissful vocal wails layering a bed of finely tuned percussion. The vocal narrative takes centrestage across the main break; emotive and hopeful in equal measure, it resonates beautifully against a wave of meditative arps, flowing through tasteful modulation as the groove drops for a finale of nostalgic chord changes.

Expanding his portfolio further, Nopi works with Argentinean vocalist Sarah Chilanti on the EP’s second selection ‘Flatter’. Its well carved groove is fluid yet funky; perfectly contoured and characterized by undulating sonics. It provides the perfect foundation for waves of exotic percussion and buoyant rhythmic themes, as Sarah’s enchanting wails and cascading piano’s trail across a heartfelt centrepiece, before a gentle rush cues an impassioned final movement.

The EP’s midway point finds Nopi exploring a deeper narrative with ‘Hookan Idyll’. From stripped down beginnings comes hopeful atmospheres and redolent shades, slowly descending over dulcet beats, organic drums and dusty artefacts. As the narrative evolves so too does its emotive appeal, with hazy harmonics and vocal fragments trailing over the framework, before a misty break effortlessly segues into a charming final act.

Rounding out the release are the deeper, ethereal vibes of ‘Sense In Nature’. Known for sitting comfortably between progressive and organic house, Nopi’s borderless vision fuels this meditative gem. It’s warm beats, perfectly sculpted bass and effervescent percussion unite for a fluid rhythmic core. Buzzing effects and cross-cultural overlays then advance the narrative with an effortless ease, splitting moods between the surreal and soulful. Building to a robust rumble, the centrepiece captivates and excites with its dynamic pulses, before gently accelerating to a tasteful crescendo. It rounds out a spirited collection of music from Nopi, making his first original project for Sound Avenue a most memorable one.
