Man Power's Me Me Me label presents debut release of New York-based Brazilian artist, Deo'Jorge this July, backed with remixes from Prins Thomas and Hardway Bros. A well-known figure in New York’s infamous underground off-location party scene, Deo'Jorge also runs the international O/NDA event series, which moved to a virtual presence last year to keep people dancing through lockdown. A friend of Man Power's since first booking him to play a street party in Rio De Janeiro in the middle of the last decade, it seems only fitting that Me Me Me should get to present the artist's inaugural musical offering. His 'Robotic Souls' EP comes backed with remixes from two bonafide legends in the forms of Norwegian artist Prins Thomas and Hardway Bros, aka Sean Johnston of A Love From Outer Space notoriety. 'Sparking Plugs' begins the EP in Me Me Me's emblematic cosmic fashion as the revolving synths fuse delicately with the deep, swirling grooves before 'Do Androids Dream' bristles with otherworldly charm – floaty pads and exquisite drums balance together graciously. Up next, 'Pick Your Dead Self' continues the upbeat vibrancy with dynamic drums and dreamy atmospheres taking the focus whilst the prolific artist Prins Thomas' remix of 'Sparking Plugs' adds simmering arpeggios and chugging melodies to this space disco interpretation. UK's Sean Johnston, renowned for his work with the late Andrew Weatherall under the A Love From Outer Space guise, rounds off proceedings with beautifully throbbing sub-bass, classy melodies and echoing dub effects that provide warmth and blissfulness. Deo'Jorge ‘Robotic Souls’ EP is out on Me Me Me Recordings on 16th July 2021.

San Francisco based record label Roam Recordings celebrates its 100th release with a compilation from beloved alumni and new artists offering original work spanning darker shades of disco, cosmic techno, psychedelic, and acid house. What started as a group of ravers in the mid 90s that roamed the countryside (mostly in the US, Canada, and Mexico) looking for parties has evolved under the direction of its boss Jason Peters into a record label featuring a diverse array of internationally known artists. The intent of the record label is to continue the journey in search of new sounds while honoring the past. The Roam 100 Compilation is a milestone in that journey. It has been arranged to be enjoyed from beginning to end and to be rifled through at will.

Rounding off the EP, almost to explain everything, I’m LSD revives a 90s rave rap recounted at afterparties. Heavysparse techno gives way to ripening synths that do indeed leave you feeling like a tomato tree.

Premiere: Baime - Faster [Moodyverse]

The Passport To Paradise gang are in fine form as they serve up four more tripped-out disco edits for the globally-minded savant. We take sail with the excellent 'Thru Wit’ Waitin’', a beefed-up guitar chugger reminiscent of 70's AOR in its steady percussive work and misty sax solo. It’s the guitar line that really shines here, lifting the tune into funk transcendence in the bridge. 'Anybody Out There' here premiered reaches out to the disco trippers with its northern Italian cosmic kitsch feel : starry-eyed synth pads float above reverb-soaked guitar musings and playful French vocal samples. A particular highlight. On the flip, PTP take things south with a soulful West African shuffler guaranteed to elicit some arresting footwork. The EP leaves us with resounding vibrations from the Far East: ‘JP Wave’ explores ethereal planes, building up a dense rhythmic fabric punctuated by bass stabs and ornamental chimes.

A little more than one year has passed since the first release of the label ITALO MODERNI, however, the Spanish imprint has already achieved international recognition amidst the lovers of Italo Disco, Synthwave, and EBM out there. Curated by young, handsome (seriously, the dude looks like a top model), and acclaimed DJ and producer Adrian Marth (SXDNS188), the Barcelona-based label is second to none when it comes to releasing top-notch 80s-infused themes. The volume II of Its compilation series, "Modernation", soon to be released on cassette and digital formats, amasses a true dream team of wizards, such as Kid Machine, Ali Renault, Daniel Monaco (SXDNS137), Luca Dell'Orso, Marcello Giordani, and REES, just to name a few, and delivers an impressive concoction of cosmic sounds.

We felt greatly honoured with the solicitation of premiering one of the tracks and got mega happy when discovered the track was by one of our favourite UK artists: REES's contribution to the compilation, "Amsterdamse Bos", is an actual showcase of his competent production skills. The frolicsome synth layer combined with the bouncing bassline provides an optimistic music message – exactly what we all may be in need at the moment.
