As I walked through the forest, the colours around me seemed to intensify, as if the world was flooded with hues of greens, blues, and pinks. Suddenly, a strange creature appeared before me, its a body kaleidoscopic shifting shape of colour. "What about never?" it whispered in a voice that echoed through my mind. I was struck with a sudden realisation - what if I never left this place? But before I could ponder further, the creature disappeared and was replaced by a pulsing beat. I followed the sound to find a clearing, where a group of people were dancing wildly to the hypnotic rhythm of Capracara. It was then that I knew I had found my new home

A series of cassette variations in the turmoil of the days is opened by a collective improvement of high-class Russian craftsmen — VA Spazio Invasore Vol. 1.
The tape custom is fully equipped with collective images in the spirit of its time. Two sides come together: day and night, light and twilight. The rhythmic in-depth intro sets the pace with a touch of space disco, which is periodically warmed up by retrospective Indian chants.

A more dense continuation falls into the rut of modernity with airy synthesizer additives. As soon as the first side crosses the equator, acid projections mixed with Italian classics and a little whimsical freshness of new disco immediately begin to sound with bright inclusions.
The clever alternate combination of the same elements with the addition of high energy switches to the B side, demonstrating a bold modern look at production. Next, a color of intensity appears with a hint of Depeche Mod and Sovietwave, giving way to trance non-trivial indie dance, and then again going into the mysterious haze of acidity.

Electroacoustic duo JESSE and their extended collective is making a comeback of some sorts. Having been integral part of Finnish electronic music community for 15 years now, they are releasing a new album called Descend. Produced by the band together with Berliner DJ Sotofett, the record is a voyage to the depths of microcosmos of our minds. Warm and fuzzy grooves bending into a mindmelting buzz of swampy ambient. JESSE has always been a group that is musically on a constant search and mutation, Descend is a record that once more defines their edge and can be seen as a follow up to their 2017 record Twotinos (released on Keys Of Life).

Troels Yuri is back on the label with a couple of fairly recent joints.

Witness Protection Program Part 2 is a chugging dark disco track with a sinister bassline, a drifting synth pad and a weird sample that gets chopped into little indecipherable pieces.

Issi Ga Tauhuloo is not a meaningful term. When looping a vocal sample for hours on end in the studio, that's what Mr. Yuri started hearing. The track is another slow tempo burner that can make you shake your limbs on the floor while crawling under your skin and making those tiny hairs on the back of your neck to stand up.

As the title name suggests, the EP is seen as an exploration through different universes. Influences can be heard from equal parts of early millennia console games to the sounds of underground heroes. Amongst nature, Cross Pollination occurs when pollen from one plant is transferred to another, resulting in new varieties. Here the Pollination is between like minded artists, sharing a love of aesthetics found in video games and science fiction culture.

This is the first in a series of compilation releases from Mat Carter’s Varial Records. Taking the listener to futuristic other worldly environments whilst maintaining a warm, human, and nostalgic feel throughout, signalling adventure and exploration.

Driving atmospheric rhythms, straight up dancefloor electro, heavy drones, restrained techno and dubbed out soundscapes combine and flow, embracing visions of a distant future, whilst giving a knowing wink to the past, these artists simply can’t deny their influences.

Populus EP by Mat Carter- Out 6th Oct. Originally released on the TheWorldKrakCartel’s Sprüngcartellwachs label it has become a rare find, so now Varial re-releases it with the support of Rub’a’Dub records.

This will be followed by a User Only EP, a collaboration between Mat Carter and Stu Dunn who also had a recent release on TOHT.
