Greetings Earthling!

This is not our first flight into the great unknown. And it won’t be our last for sure. 
Darkness all around, only broken by billions of little dots of light. 
No fear, only wonder.

Guided by the ever so mysterious Danger Dave we fuelled our cosmic vehicle and set the coordinates for an unknown galaxy. 

Why? 

Because earth is (always) facing imminent attacks by space monsters and Dave is not only experienced on the drums, but also in interstellar travels and ray guns. With all the terrors earth itself holds, he started training for this expedition at a young age, thinking “If everyone is just looking what is happening around them, who will protect us from the dangers that hide behind that curtain of stars?”. 

Accompanied by old companions and accomplished cadets Gun!lla, Oilst, mf jaeger and malauke the danger will be reduced to a bare minimum. How lucky we are to have these heroes and with your support the mission will be a full success.

The Magic Movement kicks off 2022 with a collaborative EP from Argentina’s Guuse and Berlin's Magic Jams, entitled ‘If It Were For Us’ and featuring remixes from Benjamin Fröhlich, The Oddness, and RSS Disco.

The Magic Movement was launched by German artist Noema in 2014 and has since established itself as one of the finest purveyors of psychedelia-infused Downtempo, Nu-Discfro, House, and Balearic. Here to open 2022 the imprint delivers a collaborative project between Guuse, a multi-instrumentalist, and composer based out of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Magic Jams, the new Disco leaning project of label head Noema, an artist living between Berlin and Istanbul who’s been DJing, producing and collecting music since 1997.

The title track ‘If It Were For Us’ leads the release, a dreamlike journey fusing rich textures, psychedelic guitars, bubbling arpeggios, and ethereal vocals, resulting in the perfect soundtrack for a California coastline cruise in a droptop Cadillac. ‘I Am The Desert’ follows, shifting focus over to a woozy, desert rock feel via glistening guitars, crunchy drums, hypnotic vocals, and intricate synth work. The third and final original ‘The Things We Lost In The Fire’ follows next, laying down a more classic 4/4 drum groove while chuggy bass notes, plucked synths, and cinematic leads ebb and flow around the emotive vocal stylings.

Up first on remix duties is Melbourne, Australia’s The Oddness, who reworks ‘If If Were For Us’ with robust drums, snaking sub-bass tones, and jazzy keys while the originals arpeggio line, mesmeric vocals and expansive guitar licks wind within. Hamburg trio and Mireia Records founders RSS Disco deliver their ‘Scirocco Mix’ of ‘I Am The Desert’ next, opting for gritty, saturated guitars, loose, organic drums, and tripped-out fragments of the original’s vocals.

Lastly Permanent Vacation Benjamin Fröhlich’s ‘Balearic Dub Mix’ of ‘If It Were For Us’ rounds out the release, as the name would suggest delivering a sun-drenched interpretation fuelled by the originals airy synth textures, warm vocals while Fröhlich stamps his unique mark on things with the 80’s-tinged drums and intricately intertwined synth lines.

Just in time for the one-year anniversary of Hounah's first album "Broken Land" he releases three remixes from friends. With their organic but also electronic style AFAR take us on their very own journey to their interpretation of "Reflections". Mexico-City resident Thomass Jackson shows us once again how much depth Slow-Disco can unfold without losing the reference to "Hounah". Daniela La Luz surprises us with her voice and with an unbelievable free-spinning acid trip - so that you can still dream at 136 BPM.

Peace of Action is not only the latest release from artist Earl “Damu the Fudgemunk” Davis, but the newest installment under KPM’s Crate Digger Series with label Def Pressé Editions. With several titles in the series with notable names like Blockhead and Stro Elliot since its inception in 2021, KPM returned the artist that launched the line.  Washington D.C.’s Damu the Fudgemunk marked the beginning of the KPM Crate Diggers legacy with his critically acclaimed (as featured on NPR) Conversation Peace in late summer of 2021.  3 years later all original parties have teamed up to present album 2, Peace of Action.  Damu alluded to a part 2 in the liner notes of Conversation Peace and has kept his word.  Like it’s predecessor, Peace of Action features 9 all new tracks, however this album contains no guests or vocals and is fully instrumental.  With dozens of titles under his belt over the past 2 decades highlighting his musicality and a reputation built on beats, it may be of a surprise to many that this will be the Fudgemunk’s first official instrumental project in over 7 years.  Yes, 7 years is quite some time, but don’t confuse the decision to prioritize making music with vocals to any inactivity on his part.  Check the catalog and you’ll see productions for MC’s like Raw Poetic and Blu account for lost time.  During the particular hiatus, there was a ton of room for new ideas and fresh experimentation which can be heard all over this Damu LP.  The signature is present where longtime listeners will easily pick out the fingerprints of his work.  On the other hand, the creative process that included traveling to London and digging through KPM’s archive in real time spawned the freedom to break away from what many may define as a “calling card” and musically show a different dimension in an alternate universe.  Artists at their core historically have created their best work under adventurous circumstances and that will be very evident in the listening experience of Damu the Fudgemunk’s “Peace of Action”.  Expect the unexpected.  The vast diversity of KPM’s library provided limitless range for the ears and mind of a seasoned veteran like Damu who considers storytelling a vital component of art.  On part one, Conversation Peace, it was a short film centered around engaging dialogue with a supporting score and now part two, A Peace of Action, is silent film built around movements of the music where the director took great excitement in revealing a different side of the main character.  Each song represents a scene that paints a unique world of its own.  Even though the artist prefers to have the audience listen in full, a conscious decision was made to arrange music that didn’t have to rely on its counterparts to gain context.  In a market driven by singles and singular impressions, any entry point into this body of work provides access for immersion.

Ladies and gentlemen,
fasten your seatbelts, we are shortly arriving at Kotti D’Azur, newly elected capital of the Balearic Islands. Kotti D’Azur marks the eighth release of Heimlich Musik and Captain Freudenthal is starting off a journey into southern areas, coming up with sunny vibes just in time for the beginning of summer. Not considered as easy listening but still sounding very lighthearted, the two original mixes are bringing a new vibe to the Viennese imprint, opening a new chapter of disco sounds with this EP. Mysterious passenger Darpe Ciem is delivering a first-class remix, adding some thrust and causing serious turbulence, while first officer Johannes Klingebiel is pushing the Balearic vibes to the stratosphere. Cabizbajo comes up with his own idea of a safe landing to tighten up the package as a whole, ensuring a proper touch down on festival ground.
