And analysing those that had stood the test of time brought happiness and fulfillment. It all came down to nurturing those that stuck by you, those that gave back to you as much as you gave them — that's when you know you've found your tribe.

A new label has been birthed in Tulum, brought to us by the team behind the Papaya Playa Project. Kilometro 4.5 continues the crews mission to create a home for their electronic music idols, both stalwarts and emerging, and so their first outing comes in the form of a VA gathering pioneering producers from around the world. The singular productions come from Boss Musik's Dorisburg, Circle of Live member Sebastian Mullaert, Wareika and our pick from Compost Records' Kalabrese, who delivers a rolling analogue groove.

In the middle of the summer Yeho, an Israeli musician coming from Tel Aviv, was wandering around Italy and randomly he found himself in the “Quintino Basement”, lair of Ninja Exotic Machine.
This casual encounter gave birth to three new tracks where the
duo’s downtempo and tribal style merges with Yeho’s crisp and raw vocal together with intriguing percussions samples extracted from live recordings of the percussionist Andrea Greco.
The result is an Ep called “36 questions” out on Pho Bho Records on the 14th of October.

Influential German artist DJ T. continues to work under his new alias Mathami with a second superb EP on his newly formed Pura Danza label. Both vital tracks reflect his love for the spirit of Africa and the continent's diverse music and cultures.

Ecstatic Dance is one of many forms of Conscious Dance but has become by far the most popular over the past 20 years. Since DJ T. discovered these events in the Sacred Valley of Peru a couple of years ago, he has been shifting his activities towards this fast growing ceremonial dance culture. As a skilled music selector and curator he is channeling all his experience to find his very own way of creating the musical journey for these events. The transition of the past years has finally led him to launch a new music label, Pura Danza, and a new artist persona, Mathami, to shine a light on the vast cosmos of music that gets played at Ecstatic Dances and beyond.

This second Mathami EP opens with the superb title track featuring infectious drums and percussion that build towards an epic high. Uplifting bells and marimba join a choir of tribal vocals that lead you to a euphoric peak before you sink back down into the pure, irresistible and funky groove. The excellent 'Entasim' carries the energy of a ritual dance of male warriors that dance themselves into a trance. It's a journey into hypnotic percussion, layered with ethereal chimes and bells and powerful vocals from Kenya's Massai tribe, recorded during one of their famous formation and jump dances.

Arany is another fascinating and authentic window into the beguiling world of Ecstatic Dance and Pura Danza. ‘Arany’ will be available on streaming services from 29th October with the full release available on sale and streaming on 12th November.

With Piscolabis , Golden Bug delivers his new work, a sonic UFO oscillating between electronica, robot vibrations and psychedelic dub.

Piscolabis gathers all the vibes, the codes, the styles Antoine Harispuru has been messing with during the years and traces a bold new direction towards new worlds.

And he’s got, on his fourth studio album, an impressive cast of guests : rock act The Liminañas and electronic producer Tim Glass from France , Funboys from Australia, Vega Voga from Japan , Pajaro Sunrise from Spain ; they all help him painting this picture, a project born from opposites confronting each other.

A path starting with Colibri’s substance-drenched, labyrinthic dance floor beat, going on to Variations Sur 3 Bancs featuring The Liminañas take on the acid-western / psych pop universe, taking us hitch-hiking for a while thru Japan with singer Vega Voga for some out-there musical epics, and La Boite Noire takes us dancing, but very very very slowly. Slower. Ok.

Then La Goutte D’Eau starts casting its shadows until Fata Morgana gets her hands on that arpeggiator, which basically keeps us raving on until Nid de guêpes, a mutating obsession, a gateway drug to Bring The Light, featuring Pajaro Sunrise, and to the blinking rainbow road they bring us onto. (This is kinda Golden Bug’s light side.)

The path ends with a triptych : Kotodama Part 1 and 2 (featuring Vega Voga) and Le Chant Des Sirènes, a musical work which perfectly encompasses the trip Antoine Harispuru has taken on this last album of his: a stroll from an indescribable, eccentric, robot-like binary code to shining, moody pop music, and back again.

Following hot on the heels of his recent mini-album for Elephant Gait, Italian producer Joseph Tagliabue is back with a full-length album on Glasgow's Invisible, Inc.

With Un' Altra Forma Di Vibrazioni Tagliabue continues to expand on the cosmic foundations laid by such pioneering experimental forefathers as Franco Battiato and his ground-breaking ambient abstract experiments of the '70s and Klaus Schulze whose legendary Innovative Communications label birthed the “Berlin school” sound in the '80s, then tracing a path toward later luminaries like Boards of Canada and Plaid. There's a personal, emotive and ethereal quality also present here conjuring feelings of 4AD's glory years and the likes of This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance. However, backwards-looking music this is not. It's fair to say the Milan-based producer is developing his very own distinct sound as he matures from one release to the next and regardless of his wide range of influences, it's Tagliabue's firm grasp of sound design and audio engineering that takes this album far beyond the realm of just “electronica” or “psychedelia” and plants it firmly into a distinctly forward-looking contemporary space of its very own that's as much music for the heart as it is music for the head. 

Tagliabue provides some insight: “Un' Altra Forma Di Vibrazioni (meaning Another Form Of Vibration in Italian) is a concept album inspired by one of the most sensational scientific discoveries of recent years, namely verification of the existence of a phenomenon in our Universe named the "Cosmic Web". The album is comprised of ten tracks, each linked to one another, much like the various forms of matter in the cosmic web, and whose meaning can only be understood by listening to them as a collective whole: a well constructed sonic experience fusing elements of ambient, psych, rock, experimental and trance. Designed to be listened to continuously from start to finish, the album's journey through the universal elements is reflected in each track, whose rhythms resonate in harmony with the phenomena they represent, whilst a backdrop of drones and mesmeric grooves contribute to an atmosphere of otherworldly mechanical oneirism."

"Following on from his “Georgia Keep Me Vital” track which featured on our
Bonnie Tropical 6 compilation in February, we welcome Ravelston back into our wee party palace for a full EP release.

Ravelston recently relocated to Edinburgh after twelve years on the Bristol scene. He hosts Dot Joining and Freaks & Beats on Edinburgh’s EHFM and Bristol’s 1020 Radio respectively. He also co-runs Moving Heads Festival and The Washing Machine Soundsystem.

As a DJ and producer he digs from broadly eclectic tastes with a deep fondness for leftfield, cosmic, and psychedelic sounds. He's often found idling in the lower tempos, but with a keen determination to start a dance. A heady blend of chuggers and freaky bits - plus house music.

For this EP he's provided us with four low tempo cosmic bangers and two spooky interludes. These instrumental electronic tracks capture various vibes, vices and pastimes that Ravelston enjoyed whilst living down south. Ravelston’s Bristol Pleasures EP was produced between his former home of Bristol and his new one in Edinburgh and we very much hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
