Inspired from Romanian cultural heritage, be it film, dance or musical instruments Articulat's new EP 'Folclor Abstract' is a glance back to the roots in search of a meaningful future.
Searching for inspiration within Romanian folklore, Rotterdam resident producer found Ivan Braga who was on his own pursuit of cultural heritage, experimenting with a variety of traditional instruments and rhythms from different regions of the country. Doba lu' Braga is Ivan's modern take on Romanian drum patterns performed on a traditional Moldavian drum (dobă) with an uplifting twist and arrangement for the dancefloor experience.

"Beatrice Dahl’s Jungle Fever” is taken from "Apolithoma" by Veslemes (aka Felizol) (Optimo Music, Byrd Out, Macadam Mambo) and marks the 30th release on Invisible Inc. Spread over two discs, the album was inspired by (and feels like a soundtrack to) the dystopian literary works of JG Ballard. On board for the trip are an assortment of guest collaborators and performers and the result has been described as having “a lot of depth" and "one of the best releases of the year so far.

Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, Y O K O C H O has inherited the New Beat mantle and run with it; putting his own, inimitable spin on it! The EP will also be available on cassette tape, where it truly belongs.

Lead single ‘Everyday Diamonds’ is a feel-good summer hit, perfect to lift one’s spirits heavenwards, post-lockdown! ‘Data’ brings us crashing back to earth with some distorted, visceral 303 action, providing a down & dirty antidote to the single.

‘Other Side Of The Mirror’ brings yet more lofi drum machine groove to the table, before we’re drowned in a sea of lush, ambient vintage synthesizers at the breakdown. ‘See You There’ is the perfect way to close out – if robots in the 80’s dreamt of paradise islands, this was to soundtrack to their dreams. Sublime.

Label owner, Timothy Clerkin has produced a 303-propelled, Acid-House dance-floor destroying remix of ‘Everyday Diamonds’, which provides a counterpoint to the wobbly tape, slow-mo originals, ensuring that the Y O K O C H O sound can be translated into any club environment.

In the middle of the summer Yeho, an Israeli musician coming from Tel Aviv, was wandering around Italy and randomly he found himself in the “Quintino Basement”, lair of Ninja Exotic Machine.

This casual encounter gave birth to three new tracks where the
duo’s downtempo and tribal style merges with Yeho’s crisp and raw vocal together with intriguing percussions samples extracted from live recordings of the percussionist Andrea Greco.

The result is an Ep called “36 questions” out on Pho Bho Records on the 14th of October.

PREMIERE: Fade - Protocol [Of Paradise]

For the debut digital EP on Viscera Transmissions, Komodo spreads his wings and takes his signature low slung psychedelica to the stars, to reap destruction on extraterrestrial dancefloors across the cosmos.

Title track Mirror Claws begins an ember in the desert, slowly stoked by guitar chord stabs and eerie screeches towards a slow yet inevitable psychedelic inferno.

For Night Crawler, the guitar steps back into co-pilot role as the acid bass takes the saddle, spurring the squelch dragon off into the void with a crack of the 303 whip.

Next up is Vanquished Angst with a dubby desert rock workout. Blazing guitar solos tear across the sky like thunderbolts whilst the hypnotic bassline and guitar progression burn through the dunes.

On the flip, Jonny Rock re-dubs the dub with his Vanquished Angst Dragon Remix. No slightly questionable guitar metaphors here, instead, a mind melting whirlpool of spiraling percussion, vocal quips, bass throbs and pads form a completely bonkers but brilliant piece.

Last but certainly not least, Chez de Milo arms Night Crawler with some serious ordnance. After changing up the beat pattern with a breaksy kick, electro warheads are ago, clearing the way for the original 303 line to cruise through. Heavy!

Just as glaciers heave towards their destiny in slow time, the ship entered the harbour. It’s countless thousands of tons gently docked, and its microbial passengers transmitted onto land. There it waited in silent gravity, expressing weight and weightlessness in one floating gesture. Can we truly fathom the scales of this leviathan?

If Strktur’s first three releases were made for the main room, then his latest album would surely soundtrack the dark room. He leaves behind the grandiosity of his early techno productions to discover a cosmopolitan coldwave swagger on Hors Série, his first LP. Sitting moodily amongst nine other superb tracks of ice-cool electro, 'Le Quai d'en Face' is a leanly arranged cut of austere synth-pop that eschews complexity in favour of a cut-throat groove. Importantly, he cuts ties with Nashton Records, Trau Mar and Airsound Records to self-release the LP on his own Bandcamp, structuring a new identity.

Archeophony takes us on a journey through time and space where traditional instruments and voices meet experimental electronic sounds in the most unique way. Raed Yassin has created the soundtrack to a psychedelic science-fiction movie that will unravel in your brain like a time travel machine from the future looking into the past. 
In a similar vein to an archeologist, Raed Yassin’s new album Archeophony takes us on a journey through sounds and voices excavated from collected sonic archives from the past, rearranged and reproduced through electronics, distortion, sampling and assembly. Drum machines, synthesizers and electronic sounds merge with solo traditional voices and instruments recorded in different parts of the world, coming together to create a contrarian yet magical sound unlike any other. Based on so-called ‘ethnic’ music recordings conducted between the 1950s and 80s by Western ethnomusicologists in true colonial fashion, the album attempts to achieve an archeology of sound that reflects both the course history and its continuous distortion by the powers that be. The result is a dizzying living archive of sonic history as well as the presentation of a unique experimental orchestration. By rereading musical history in this way, Raed Yassin strives to play the role of a conductor. The orchestra is history itself, and he selects, deconstructs, emphasizes, mutes and distorts it through this album.

As a musician, Raed Yassin has been a key member in the Lebanese underground music scene for many years. One of the organisers of the Irtijal Festival of Experimental Music from its early beginnings, he founded his concept music label Annihaya in 2009. He is a member of several bands and groups, including “A” Trio , @Praed among others. As a double bassist, he developed a personal and independent extended technique, by employing different preparations and objects on his instrument. His interest here relies heavily on textures, energies and vibrations, the density of volume and sound, rather than conventional melodic structures. Also an electronic musician and experimental turntablist, his approach to vinyl ranges from deconstructing Arab pop music, to reexamining the traditional music archives of countries from the global south. With his duo band Praed (along withPaed Conca ), he acts as the lead singer and synth player, merging free jazz with psychedelic rock and Egyptian Shaabi music
