Much like James Holden and Optimo, Ivan Smagghe is one of the most influential figures behind the founding and continuation of H+P over the past decade.

As such, it is tremendously exciting to release something by his new Smagghe & Cross project. In collaboration with the film composer and programmer, Rupert Cross - who counts big Hollywood blockbusters and Kanye West on his impressive resume - Smagghe & Cross has recently been picking up acclaim through superb releases on Vladimir's Offen Music, Ransom Note and their remix of The Junto Club has been a staple round these parts. Not only that, but the record also features none other than the bold Matthew Herbert (!!!) doing his best Robert Wyatt impression.
Additionally, as a very big fan of the compelling Honey Soundsystem 'Generator' series, I'm really chuffed to have commissioned a special remix featuring Jackie House with Kevin Clarke performing words by DJ Marke B. Swedish Superstars, Samo DJ & Pedrodollar also turn in a trippy groover AND as the icing on the cake; have enlisted the services of the DJ who played the first ever H+P party back in 2007, Pilooski- completing another circle during the 10th anniversary year..

Since leaving longtime home BPitch control back in 2011, Sascha Funke has been on a mission to expand his repertoire. The tech-house and deep house of old has been replaced by quirkier and more challenging releases that draw influence from musical cultures around the world (a trend best exemplified by a couple of fine EPs for Multi-Culti). The German producer continues this approach on Lotos Light, his first album for nearly six years. Variously touching on dewy-eyed Balearic electronica, crusty post-punk dub-house, spaced-out analogue chuggers, psychedelic ambience, skewed house, contemporary krautrock and moody Teutonic new wave, it's a set that surprises and thrills with equal measure.

"With a chuggy proto-house bassline the pushes heavily from the off, 'Beat Girl' is sprinkled with some Lil' Louis inspired sex samples. An exceptionally executed monologue in French from the tracks femme fatale then leads us into a rock-fused guitar break that's overlaid with her orgasmic moans. Seven Knives is a contemporary band from St-Petersburg, Russia consisting of Bøgi/Rem/Shato (vocals, guitars/synths/drums). Their songs are about the time and that things, which are lost (being last, but not least) in it, when this time is organised by the 7-days week. Sacrosanct melodies are made of 7 notes, whatever major or minor they are, the matter is that, you don't need them all. Both days and notes are inevitable. 7 Knives is like the third seven of your longed for jackpot, when you get your gold, and say out loud to the unavoidable world flowing your "hellooooooooo".

With an arsenal of stellar music releases already under his belt, Ponty Mython serves up the delicious “Pink Tango” EP for Futureboogie.

Having carved out a reputation for some of the finest cosmic house productions on labels like Omena, Dirt Crew and Quintessentials, the Lithuanian based producer delivers three new cuts on this release, which comes ably backed by a remix from Italian producer Fabrizio Mammarella.

On the title track, Alex Pletnev (Ponty Mython), goes for breezy synths and wandering melodies over a chugging mechanical beat and an FM style bassline, whilst Fabrizio Mammarella (Bear Funk/Les Disques De La Mort) toughens things up slightly on his remix, plunging into a darker sound aesthetic for a great reinterpretation of the original.

On “Time Spiral” an unhurried groove is laced with layer upon layer of meditative synths and percussive rolls for a fat dose of eighties soundtrack vibes, whilst EP closer, “Appreciate It While It's Not Too Late”, settles down to a head-nodding pace with funky bass and key melodies and live drum samples for a real earworm of a track.
