Hibernation is at an end: it’s 2023 and Aniara Recordings are back. Dorisburg delivers the first of three new Aniara 12” releases. A-side ”Voices” continues right where the Swedish label left off with its signature sound in 2019: 9 minutes of evocative minimalism that’s as entrancing as it gets. On the flip side we find ”Skulptur 7”, a haunting, atmospheric dancefloor cut in the inimitable style of Dorisburg.

Niteffect has made a concept album for us, dedicated to Man's Best Friend and our puppy Dalmata Daniel couldn't be more honoured!

This album is Niteffect's debut on our label, but we are not talking about a rookie producer, because he has been releasing music since 2007 mostly on Hamburg-based Kreislauf. His music is mainly characterized by strong emotional melodies, deep basses mixing with downtempo, trip-hop, idm, and deep house sound elements.

Man's Best Friend is an electro-oriented album, sometimes with breaks or other broken beats sound, but the most common that all the tracks have deep emotional synth waves. Niteffect playfully uses these to create melancholic and more upbeat moods, creating a varied but coherent whole, perfectly capturing the changing experiences of a summer vibe.

Started in 2018, Colapso is a passionate digger on a mission to reveal the hidden treasures of Italo Disco, Dark Disco, Indie Dance and EBM on the Parisian scene. During his years in Hamburg from (2020 to 2022), his project matured towards industrial punk sounds. His styles range from Italo to the various branches of Indie Dance - the Mexican, Israeli and Berlin schools - with a pronounced taste for oriental EBM and acid sounds.

Colapso is the co-founder of the Apéro Notturno collective, which celebrates Indie Dance culture and all its offshoots, alongside Zaratustra, IBLT and Bérou. The collective made a name for itself in 2023 with its open air Apéro Italo at Jardin21 and the Coucool Festival.

It was after seeing Kris Baha live in Hamburg in 2021 that the idea for this mix began to take shape and thus is the result of almost 2 years' work on Colapso's project. We can not get enough of mix no. 36 - enjoy!

A defining time for many musicians pursuing the arts of exploring sonic palettes is the moment of learning a song, an instrument and recording it. The procedure of selection and layering of sounds. The idea of dissolving this mysticism and truly being in control of something. The realisation that there's a lot more enigma coinciding with simplicity in music that you may not have realised before and discovering new journeys from there on in. The knowledge of its technicality brought with a background in contemporary songwriting becomes a quest for sounds surrounded by layers of storytelling. To establish a sonic aesthetic that represents yourself and what you want to present to the listener.

The recording of Passerella took place at the end of the summer of 2022 over one week of isolation and songwriting in a house on the shoreside of the lake Lugano. Layered with references from a contemporary approach to 80s synth pop, post-punk and dark wave, with subconscious derivations of Canzone Italiana as a foundation for a musical piece derived from Infesta's childhood listening habits. Bare genuineness, emotional and aggressive at the right places, the way in which music captures the purity of intense feelings. Infesta’s work is presented in a raw quality which intimates the listener with an aspect of humanity grippingly relatable.

Cemented songs with a focussed vision, Infesta’s dark yet familiar world is one confused but shared among us all. The conceptuality of a traditional album dissolving into a musical diary. The music within this record is a rendering of the importance of having these songs compiled side-by-side as a way of storytelling. To keep the same picture of the exposure of a person through their music. Conflicting inner thoughts frolicking side by side. A gentle hand caresse gleaned by an author to its listener.
