Nothing Is Real Records (@nothingisrealrecords) celebrates spring with another great Mexican producer, Alfredo Cardenàs aka Montessori (@montessorimusicmx), already recognized for his Rhythmic enveloping and energetic style of productions. The quality of his music caught the attention of many producers, djs and dancers in the game. The Montessori EP is formed by 4 dancefloor oriented tracks.

The main track ‘Glue In The Sand’ is a perfect example of modern indie dance, with the fresh addiction of trippy synths and fx, the tailored vocal of Vongold (@nvongold) captures the attention of the listeners giving a lovely shape. Instead ‘Digital Mind’ is an obscure dark piece of dance music with a special tech flavor, perfect for the need of pushing more when the crowd is ready.

You can immediately hear the desire of experimenting different roads on the arrangement from the German duo Peter Invasion (@peter-invasion) and Gregor Habicht (@gregor-habicht) on their remix of Glue In The Sand: the work on electro elements and the sliced pieces of vocals are simply unique, a solid inprint from the producers.

Astroloop is on board remixing Glue In The Sand with a simple but effective bassline, gated synths and acid moments trying to maintain the moving of the track with the change of elements.

Dina Summer is a collaborative project of producer Kalipo and DJ-producer couple Local Suicide. Local suicide is Greek native Dina P., one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki before moving to Berlin, where she met her husband and the other half of Local Suicide. The powerhouse couple made a name for themselves releasing music on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire and Ombra and have played a crucial part in the rise of the dark disco scene. Meanwhile, Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records and is part of the electro-punk band Frittenbude. Here he brings techno undertones to this unique project. Since 2019 the trio have been working together on a special blend of late 90’s electro with elements of 80’s disco and new wave. Their first EP on Iptamenos Discos received widespread praise and received massive support from German radio alongside plays from The Hacker, Digitalism, and Arnaud Rebotini. This distinctive new album’s sound comes from two synthesisers and one microphone. Pounding disco beats under rattling bass sequences. It's a sound with roots in Italo disco classics, new wave and punk combined with electroclash of the noughties but now ready for summer 2022 from the beach to the club. Edgy beats meet striking melodies as perfectly poppy hooks are carried by Dina's unique voice on cuts like 'Mars', and fast, urgent grooves like 'Uranos' offer up fine synth craft. 'Revenge' blends cold revenge fantasies with an 80's inspired electro-pop sound reminiscent of feel-good movies of the era without falling into cliché. 'Zig Zag' races on rugged but colourful disco drums, and 'Mirage' has an intoxicating synth lead with flashes of cosmic brilliance. 'Wunderbar' is a heavy, off-balance stomper with German vocals and warped synths, and the majestic 'Amore' twitches your synapse with its pixelated synths and fast bass. 'Crocodile' is a giant disco pumper with edgy synth and vocal energy. The final and title track conjures up lazy summer vibes on a synthesiser amongst the palm leaves, with Dina's beguiling vocals adding extra escapist magic. For their 18th vinyl release, Hard Fist welcomes Guadalajara-based producers Vongold and Fargo Devianti in the family, including an impressive remix by Jennifer Cardini and Damon Jee.

Dj, producers and performers, the Mexican duo releases collabs on Correspondant, Hard Fist, Rotten City, Her Majesty’s Ship and more. Vongold is all about low-tempo dark disco, anxious lyrics over bass lines and hundred vocal gems ; while Fargo Devianti is a magician mixing guitars, synthesizers, drums and voodoo percussion.

“Taste of Butter” is their first full EP together. Vongold's haunted vocals stress Fargo Devianti hypnotic percussion. Together they create a psychedelic journey into mind landscapes with eclectic influences like avant-garde rock, post-punk, krautrock and darkwave sprinkled by psych-folk eastern melodies and ritual percussions. This EP is probably the most rock and new-wave oriented ever released on Hard Fist.

To conclude, Jennifer Cardini and Damon Jee brought a powerful remix influenced by Detroit's electro and breakbeat roots. Once mixed with the trippy sounds of the original version, it opens a fresh new door into the field of “dancefloor killer” music.

BAR03 is BAR Records' very first spring release. With 2 tracks by The Hague's JEANS and 2 more by Italian duo Younger Than Me, this one is dedicated to the ravers. The first track by Jeans is 'Grand Theft Mind Explorer', a race car journey full of various breaks and melodies into the 4th dimension. The second track 'Nohzdyve' sounds like a spring tune on a hardcore clubnight. The peaktime beat slowly fades into a sweet and nicely confusing end. Younger Than Me's 'BaRave' has some classic UK rave elements; the signature drums are accompanied by a happy end of the day melody. This track asks for a perfect sunset. 'Dirty Sex' is the different one, a vocal track for darkrooms. Contains the beautiful voice of Justine.

MR BC, aka Bob Salmond, returns to Roam with three new originals to form the Chicken Skin Suit EP. The Scottish artist opens up the EP with the title track that hints at the early 80s dance with its off-kilter arp bass under ethereal strings punctuated by spatters of electro toms.

Lithuanian producer, Roam alumni, and prolific rising star Zakmina accentuates this early 80s vibe with his dark and deftly crafted remix.

Ransom Note launches Pen Pals Volume 2: a collaborative compilation created in isolation. Since the Covid-19 lockdown began the music and events industry has been thrown into unchartered waters, leaving artists and online media in a financially vulnerable position, and with much more time on their hands. To help some of those artists, and provide Ransom Note with much-needed financial support, in April label reached out to some friends of the website with the challenge to make a track in collaboration with another producer, musician or vocalist, remotely. The result was ‘Pen Pals’, a compilation featuring 15 collaborations. Following the reception of the first release, label decided to embark on volume two, enlisting a fresh group of artists and musicians to take up the challenge. 40 artists stepped up to the plate and 19 tracks were produced culminating in a compilation spanning a vast musical breadth.
Profits from sales on Bandcamp’s Juneteenth (19/06/20) will be donated to Black Minds Matter UK.
