Jaypress Management UK is run by David Colkett who has more than 35 years experience in the music industry. At the age of 15 David starting DJ’ing at local clubs and parties whilst also holding down a job at a record store in London. His DJ career took off immediately due to his talent at not only selecting the newest and best tracks available (almost all on promo) but also his mixing skills which got him noticed by some of the biggest publications and club owners around. At the age of 17 he was contacted by CBS Records in Sloane Square (now Sony Records) who asked him to work in their club promotions department. This move brought about a whole new dimension to David’s work when he found himself working on such projects as Earth Wind & Fire, George Duke, George Michael and Wham, Herbie Hancock, Aswad and tons of other great talent that were singed to the label. His DJ career also took a turn for the better and he found himself regularly playing at some of the best clubs in London (Hippodrome, Camden Palace, 100 Club, Lacey Lady, International, The Greyhound and many more…). He also guested on the Capital Radio Soul Spectrum show with his great friend Greg Edwards.His mixing skills saw him gig alongside some of the biggest names of the day in London such as Pete Tong, Froggy, Chris Hills, Robbie Vincent, Greg Edwards and others). Placed under contract in the 80’s David found himself DJ’ing also at nearly all of the clubs on the Italian Riviera where he first planted his roots that would see him collaborate on many Italian projects; music journalist for Jam Magazine and Acid Jazz Magazine, internal collaborator with Disco Più Records where he also ran Discoid Magazine for over ten years, main contributor and consultant for the launching of DJMag Italy… the list continues… Over these many years David has built up a mountain of contacts and collaborators in the dance music industry and his experience and knowledge of this sector is vast. He also counts many of the bigger names worldwide as close friends.
