One of the most expressive cuts of IN TECHNICOLOR gets a deserved club update with album collaborator ROOSEVELT's revamp of LES DILETTANTES. Originally a slightly no-wavey narrative sporting the idiosyncratic voicework of MIT's Edi Winarni, the track now pushes back its free-form properties for a heavily disco-infused work-out driven by exquisite hooks and a delibarately jam-like mentality. Edi's singing remains largely unchanged, but reveals unexpected glamour within the new context, making this an appropriately flashy addition to IN TECHNICOLOR REMIXE.

On May 14, 2012, Best Coast will release their highly anticipated new album The Only Place. This follow-up to 2010’s acclaimed Crazy For You finds the proudly Southern Californian duo of Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno maturing in both their sound and perspective. While Crazy For You was a nostalgic tribute to teenage feelings, The Only Place finds front woman Cosentino starting a transition into adulthood. “I’m trying really hard to grow up,” she says. “I’m trying to let go of my bad habits and the immature things I still drag around with me.” Of course this adjusting comes with uncertainty and self-doubt, two feelings at the emotional center of an album that also features a love song to her home state of California in the title track. All encompassed in the memorable album cover, derived from a 1913 sheet music illustration paying homage to the golden state.
As with all of Best Coast’s previous recordings, on The Only Place Cosentino handles all songwriting, lyrics, vocals and rhythm guitar, while multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno plays lead guitar, bass and drums. What’s new this time is their decision to work with producer and composer Jon Brion. A revered figure in the music world, Brion has collaborated with artists including Fiona Apple and Kanye West and created the scores for such films as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind  and Punch-Drunk Love. Recorded at Capitol Records’ famed Studio B, The Only Place features a cleaner and richer sound than other Best Coast releases. Many of the songs’ arrangements are detailed with subtle percussion and unexpected instrumentation. Intricate but never overworked, the biggest change from previous releases is how it showcases Cosentino’s voice, this time letting it ring clear, unhidden by distortion and reverb.

From the coastal town of Vina del Mar in Chile, Ricardo Tobar first began to make waves around the world when he teamed up with Border Community in 2007 to release his 'El Sunset' debut. Since then, a series of subsequent releases including his Border Community follow-up 'Boy Loves Girl EP', a pair of EP's on Germany's stalwart Traum label and also an EP on Mondkopf's In Paradisum label out of Paris entitled 'Esoteric Carnival', have put the full length and breadth of Ricardo's musical interests on display, ranging from noisy, punky electronic-rock bombast to lush, heady and uplifting new-shoegaze.

Henry Saiz featured 'Together' in its original form on his Balance 019 compilation to rapturous applause, receiving critical acclaim within the many online pieces that praised Henry's ground breaking album. We are now very happy to present the track in all its glory and accompanied by two entirely opposing remixes from Fairmont and Microbird, with Fairmont opting for deep, warm spacious house vibes and Microbirds being a wide, spacious, fuzz filled beauty, plus two other tracks 'Jamaica Sun' and 'Teenager', the latter of which has featured heavily in the sets of James Holden and the former which now comes with two fantastic Sistema remixes. The first is an acid laden deep tech house cut, with warbling 303's contrasting with warm melody and then the deeper 'Sunset Dub' which opts for an ethereal, electronica excursion. 

As is customary for a release on Natura Sonoris, Henry Saiz has hand picked artists that he felt complimented the music itself, but also importantly artists who he and Ricardo hold dearly and in high regard, for example; Microbird a young and talented producer hailing from Ricardo's home of Chile, or the Spaniard Sistema with whom Henry has worked with for many years releasing a number of his remixes and more recently his 'Possible Sounds of Möbius' album, to Jake 'Fairmont' Fairley, who the duo both hold in very high regard, and of course also coming from the Border Community stable, keeping an element of cohesion to the project.

This is my DJ mix from the Daphni 'JIAOLONG' album release party at the Bussey Building in Peckham, London, UK.

It was recorded live and performed with 3 Pioneer CDJ 2000s playing digital files, an E&S DJR400 mixer and a Boss RE-20 Space Echo pedal.

All 7.5 hours are here - warts and all. Apologies for the occasionally crunchy sound quality and periodic lapses in mixing. It's only split into two parts because it was too long to upload as one file.

It was a fantastic night - thank you to all of you who were there and to Huntleys & Palmers for putting the night on. But as many of you were unable to attend for geographic and other reasons, I wanted to share it with you this way.
