It is with pride that MAISON CLOSE RECORDS announces the release of this first EP Unseen [MCR001] with UNREALNUMBERS, marking the beginning of a long series of EPs with only one artist.
UNREALNUMBERS is a rising south korean talent based in Seoul. It was in London, the city where he grew up, that he met the underground techno scene. His industrial music production, EBM and
noise stood out early during his schooling. In 2014, he started to draw inspiration from his various trips between London and Berlin to assert his sound design. The producer also manages his own label «UN
LABEL CORP», aiming for raw power on the dance floor as well as a dark and dystopian aesthetic.
To accompany UNREALNUMBERS productions, two artists are also present on this release as remixers:
Varya Karpova; the new russian talent of the young agency Core Agency revealed on the Possession label in 2020 and Lacchesi; co-founder of the Maison Close Records label.
[MCR001] is the promise of an obscure techno with influences from Berlin, London and Seoul.

Layton Giordani steps up for his first solo EP of 2018.

In terms of pedigrees, it doesn’t get finer than Layton Giordani. The Brooklyn-born DJ/producer followed up his lauded debut album of 2017, with a collaboration with Danny Tenaglia to close out the year and marked the summer of 2018 with a three-way collaboration with Adam Beyer and Green Velvet, ‘Space Date’. The period has been a big one for Layton personally, also. From humble beginnings in his native NYC as an Output resident, to being thrust into the bustle of the European club and festival circuit, he’s enjoyed a stint living in Amsterdam, growing and developing over this time. All these experiences have had a fundamental influence on him and his music. The four-track EP ‘Phase II’ represents a new chapter for this exciting talent.

Beginning with ‘New York to Amsterdam’, a track that draws inspiration from a classic by Yves Deruyter, Layton’s work packs a memorable punch as tough acidic undertones and brain scrambling synth effects undulate raising the intensity, making it a perfect opener for Adam Beyer when he played Berghain earlier this year. ‘Body Language’ follows, a track written when Layton was scrubbed out of touring for a month courtesy of a shattered elbow from a skating accident. Not wasting the downtime, he’s crafted a cut that’s sleek, sexy and smart, with a seductive vocal and rousing melodic riff that runs throughout. ‘Black Mirror’, stays true to its dystopic name, a stomping rave cut that pummels dancefloors with a menacing lead synth that’s purpose built for the cold months ahead. ‘Enter the Stratosphere’ is steely electro-tinged techno paired with atmospheric licks of melody, awhile maintaining the artist’s trademark low-end chug. A classy conclusion to an EP from one of techno’s brightest talents.

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, a few years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Ill Truth are no strangers to Skankandbass, having been featured numerous times since their first release on Lockdown Recordings in late 2016.  Despite the relatively short time since their debut, the Bristol natives have made a rapid rise through the ranks. In the beginning of last year the world looked quite different. Coincidence had just come out of hibernation and we wanted to get back into the game with a bomb. So, our buddy Remy-x came up with the 'Bodyfication EP'. We had three tracks and one remix by Psytox and although we believed and loved the tracks, we didn't have much hope that people would pick up on it in those trying times when everyone was playing the same stuff and everyone was looking for The Next Big Thing. 

And then it happened: first, Marika Rossa got on board when she pushed 'Konzentriert' and later 'CTRL-X'. I Hate Models really caught everyone's attention when he blasted 'The Body' everywhere. Unfortunately that alo started a shitstorm that unintentionally helped to push the track to stardom. An adapted version became the biggest hit to date for Coincidence. A year after the release, our friend Amelie Lens rediscovered the track giving it a second lease on life that catapulted it to the number one spot on Beatport for 6 weeks straight. 

So here we are: again ready to reboot Coincidence for another season and again we start with Remy-x. This time, we have 4 remixes for you that each have a very different vibe and all are uncompromising to say the least!  The remixers? Austria's super producing duo Niereich & Shadym. Belgian hardcore and techno demi-God Tripped. The Wir Tanzen boss Man Outta Space in collab with one of Techno's most interesting talents Don Woezik. And the fourth by our returning favo talent from Holland: Cynkt.
