If Jay Sound, Herbie Hancock, John Carpenter, Software & Tim Truman made an album together, Neon Vice would be their brain child.  This cinematic & thematic body of work where each track tells a horrific story from Jays mind of how he sees & experiences "The Land Of The Free".

Back with a full length album since 2022’s “HEAT” & “HOME”, Neon Vice coming on album 6 is Jays most politically charged body of work since his 2020 EP “Heal”. As Jay states “Iv been watching on as this nation literally eats it self alive from the inside out, from circus elections, to funding genocides, continued lynchings of Black Americans, silence from Non Black people who continue to profit off Black American Culture, school shootings steadily going up, the unhousing crisis, to societal hypocrisy. I felt this rage inside I haven’t felt in a long time & instead of being destructive I choose to turn all my thoughts into this.”

Tapping back into the 80s zeitgeist on the political nature of social & injustice issues from The Crack Epidemic, War On Drugs, The Reagan Era. To making parallels to current issues that impact humanity on both systemic & interpersonal level, to provoke thought that many things that have happened In the past are still happening today & impacting us rather we wish to see or not.   

Neon Vice is truly in a league of its own within Jays rogue gallery of body of work, from ethereal compositions like “False Allies”& “Apocalypse Now” to 80s Jazz driven titles like “Veteran Wasteland” & “Digital Conformity”. Neon Vice packs one hell of a radical punch throughout, from a roller coaster of emotions, once again displaying Jays depth of range. Hitting us with his Synth Funk single “Humanity Manipulation” which tackling every day struggles of what it’s like to be human in the U.S.  

This album is not one that was created to make its listeners feel "comfortable" by any stretch, we can feel Jays justified anger, even if it’s displayed in a very artistic fashion musically & sonically. Once again stating that anything Black is political because of the historic nature of what it means to be Black. Neon Vice is meant to disrupt the status quo & sound great doing it for decades to come.

Berlin-based producer, composer and instrumentalist Leon Pock, formerly known as beatmensch5000, introduces his new project ODYLE. ‘Brain Fog’ is the fourth single. 

ODYLE’s upcoming debut EP ‘18 Months Of(f)’ (29.11.24) was crafted during the challenging years of 2022-2023, a period marked by significant personal obstacles. After contracting COVID-19, he faced a prolonged battle with Long COVID (ME/CFS), which severely impacted his daily life and creative process. Despite enduring persistent fatigue, ODYLE continued to create music, albeit with great difficulty. The experience demanded perseverance, patience, and resilience, which ultimately shaped the EP's thematic superstructure and creative journey. The ambivalence of time—both its slow, arduous passage during recovery and its relentless, fleeting nature—became a central theme in the music. 

Particularly influential for his first solo project is the live jazz and hip-hop format Black Bear Basement (sax, keys, vibraphone/perc, turntables), which he founded in 2016 and with which, in addition to a sold-out tour, he was also represented at several established festivals. The band's sound concept, in which sophisticated production skills and the organic timbre of the four instruments result in fully developed beat compositions, also forms ODYLE's unique body of sound.

The EP also showcases the talents of R&B singer DALEE and newcomer fraen as well as award-winning jazz saxophonist Phillip Dornbusch and bassist Viktor Velinov, both key figures in Berlin's flourishing jazz and new soul scene.

Leon Pock has been a pivotal figure in Berlin's music scene for several years, contributing as a producer, composer, and songwriter across both German and English-speaking circles. As a pianist and musical director, he has toured extensively throughout Germany and Europe. Under his former alias beatmensch5000, Leon has released multiple albums and numerous singles, collaborating with a diverse array of artists.
