Dj Würm - Slime People

Inspired by the iconic tradition of the sample pack, the Source Folder series seeks to explore the diversity of interpretations, paths and offsprings that might emerge from a common resource. In each installment, a member of the Global URL Nation provides a sample pack from which other artists are invited to create a new track. 

To initiate the series, we are honored to welcome SNKLS, a French producer blending rich sound designs, intricate drum patterns and synthetic curiosities into unique entities at the crossroads of genres and labels. 

For his participation, he curated not one, but two packs of sounds, made from a selection of Eurorack modules such as Rings, Morphagene or DPO, providing a set of tools, materials and supplies for others to appropriate, upcycle, reuse and combine in order to create their own item. 

The 127 Pack edition gathers artists César Ch, Cosmic Caz, EURROPE, King Demitri, Lukann, migu, T.U., VIO_L3T, & xato. From soothing soundscapes to ominous saturated hits, the different tracks draw the contours of a peculiar environment, a garden of synthetic singularities and beauties to be observed, appreciated and get lost into.

Today, our guest is the Tokyo-based DJ Kojikoji, a member of the Chemical Monsters collective with Wrack (among the others), and also the founder of the multi-disciplinary project Demian that covers clothing, photography, graphic design, and music. Under that name, Kojikoji has been curating the cutting-edge monthly mix series called Fetishism hosted by the Bristol-based Wide Radio and to which contributed international artists such as Pobvio, Wulffluw XCIV, Rafa Maya, P6R6R6K, and Blaise Deville. You can find Kojikoji's mix on our Soundcloud or stream it via the player below. An ode to failure!

Departing from the image of the genius artists, the Hit&Miss compilation wants to show the hidden parts of creation, by embracing missteps and abandonment as a natural part of any artistic journey. 

Open to all members of the Global URL Nation, it proposed a new home for projects that couldn't find a place to exist otherwise, due to artistic (self-)exigency, technical problems, bad timing or any other reason often unknown to the general public. 

With more than 20 artists from a broad range of styles, experience and locations, it gathers unfinished projects such as aborted WIP, forgotten drafts, lost files, unconvincing demos, compulsive emotional bursts or technical experimentations. 

With all its flaws and raw cuts, Hit&Miss asserts the strength of trial and error, and cherishes the impossibility to develop an idea into a finished object as a learning process towards one's growth.
