Never could see myself feel this way, laying in the warmth of harmony enveloping me. I have always tried to find myself with thoughts racing through my mind, but for once… I am at peace…

Tokyo-based producer and DJ Wrack is one of the hardest working peers in the club scene.
Affiliated with Mexico’s NAAFI and numerous other progressive labels around the globe, his tracks have been used in DJ sets by almost everyone in the know as powerful tools.
“Ice Effect” marks his fourth EP for 2022 and showcases the Japanese producer’s unique take on Dancehall. The 4 tracks beat around the 100 BPM tempo mark and manage to create an equally-balanced cold and distant, yet colourful and welcoming world, mirroring the image of an alien flower flawlessly preserved in ice, as depicted on the record’s artwork.

Opening title track sets an eery tone with an icy synth backed by a stomping kick and Reggaeton snare rolls, followed by the dreamy keys of Midnight Sun, contrasting its chants, marching laser shots and energetic beat. Euphoric pads and distant bells compliment Astral Body’s bubbling riddim driven by highly pitched toms, while closing track Loston’s gliding and rolling percussion create a tribal, almost primitive bounce, arranged over an oriental air instrument loop.

DIORAMAS by @bademjan & @griigg

Dioramas draws inspiration from forgotten artificial displays popularized in the 19th century for their
scenic representation of natural landscapes and lifelike sculptured figures. Seeking to reveal their beauty
and grandeur, dioramas usually play with perception and illusion to achieve realistic replicates.
Taking this aspiration into the sonic realm, the mixtape is divided into eight sections, each one depicting
a musical interpretation of a natural environment. Elements of these sceneries were recreated with
evolving modular synth patches, morphing vast landscapes into fertile biomes inhabited by synthetic
creatures and ethereal beings.
Dioramas was recorded during eight time limited sessions, guided by intuition and fast decision-making
in an attempt to emulate the freedom and constraints of improv sessions, leaving just enough room for
raw and unprocessed imagery.
