French imprint Way Of House are back again with another on-point cut of sound, this time longstanding label artist Wielki, teams up with Marseille producer Sara Zinger. A merging of the fizzling electronic production of Wielki, with the darker techno traits of Sara Zinger, make for a dazzling EP.
The original of ‘Closer’ works electric fused 4/4 beats around a hypnotic vocals and encapsulating dark grooves, for a slightly downtempo chugger that will get the dancefloor moving. On the remix from first comes fellow French talent Cät Cät, who delivers a minimal and driven club focused cut, before Alda round things off.

'The latest release on Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Wielki to the label for his debut EP. The French artist has risen from an era of synthesizer pioneers, creating a sound that is both musically rich and rhythmically fresh. Always looking to tell a story within his productions, the Paris resident has already found a home on Armada's Electronic Elements and collaborated with Joris Delacroix. Now debuting on Movement Recordings, Wielki presents 'Excelsior' alongside remixes from Dizharmonia and Tash. 

Beginning with the title selection Wielki explores both astral and emotive narratives. Warm beats and an elastic like groove sit at the foundation while charged rhythms and percussive splashes fill in the framework. Impassioned and mysterious, smooth chord changes marry well with modular shifts before a centrepiece full of sonic artefacts draws you further into its emotional core. An interlude to capture the imagination of your dance floor before a smooth drop sparks a goosebump worthy finale. The companion piece 'Sky's Only a Memory' follows a similar sonic ethos and sits as a perfect complement to its predecessor. It's tough, rolling groove is perfectly carved, adorned with fiery percussion and astral effects. Smooth and ominous across the first act, eventually leading to a buzzing break where a bed of sizzling electronics elevates tension, while timely chord changes and further cosmic narration shift energy into an arp driven finale. 

The first interpretation of 'Excelsior' is provided by Dizharmonia who returns to the label for their second appearance. Hailing from Athens, the Greek duo's unique blend of progressive and techno has led them to releases on Stil Vor Talent, Steyoyoke and Ritter Butzke Studio. Having first appeared on Movement in February of 2018 with their 'Trigonon' EP, Dizharmonia now return with a stunning remix of 'Excelsior'. Through distinctive design and spacey soundscapes the duo have carved out an excellent complement to the original. Astral sonics and heady effects play off each other wonderfully, while it's tough and deeply compelling architecture root what is a hugely engaging journey. 

The second and final interpretation of 'Excelsior' is provided by Movement label boss Tash. The Greek artist is fresh off the release of his well received collaborative EP with Starkato while also laying claim to another highly regarded 2019 creation with fellow countryman Dousk. Now finding himself in the remixer role, Tash returns to Movement with a heady rework of 'Excelsior'. With a veteran's savvy, the Greek artist takes a cue from the original, reimagining the main themes over woody kicks and waves of sub bass. Exotic percussive comes in flashes, adding dynamic moments while a great emotional narrative slowly engulfs the framework. Glowing yet tastefully twisted, the main break proves to be a high point, putting your pleasure centres on alert before effortlessly segueing into a percussive finale. An inspired interpretation from Tash and one which rounds out another must have release from his Movement Recordings imprint.'

The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Valleverde to the label for their debut EP. Joy Kitikonti and Maurizio Benedetta make up the Valleverde duo and have both enjoyed much success in their respective solo careers. Based in Italy, Joy Kitikonti has been a fixture of the electronic music underground for the better part of two decades. The Turin resident has showcased his music on Armada, Blackhole and Nervous Records. Similarly, Maurizio Benedetta has also become one of his country's most respected talents, programming music for many of Italy's premiere venues will also landing releases on Natura Viva and Tiger Records. Having worked together previously on a remix for Family Piknik Music, Joy and Maurizio now unite once more to form Valleverde, presenting their debut EP 'Two Guys from Hell' alongside remixes from Erly Tepshi and Wielki.

Beginning with the title selection Valleverde explores both astral and emotive narratives. Tough beats and a chugging groove sit at the foundation while tight arps and charged rhythms fill in the framework. Fluid and mysterious, smooth chord changes marry with percussive splashes leading into the break, before classy modulation and spastic synths unite for an exhilarating crescendo. The companion piece 'Lux Nova' follows a similar sonic ethos and sits as a perfect complement to its predecessor. It's warm, rolling groove is perfectly contoured, adorned with quirky electronics and ghostly vocal stabs. Astral arps drift across the framework while waves of percussion continue to build tension into the break. Dramatic yet euphoric, the centerpiece builds to a sonic sizzle as a rush of white noise sparks an arp driven finale.

The release concludes with Wielki returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of 'Lux Nova'. The French artist has risen from an era of synthesizer pioneers, creating a sound that is both musically rich and rhythmically fresh. Always looking to tell a story within his productions, the Paris resident has already found a home on Armada's Electronic Elements and collaborated with Joris Delacroix. His Movement Recordings debut came in September of last year with the well received 'Excelsior' EP. Now making a welcome return to the Greek imprint, Wielki rounds out the release with a unique take on 'Lux Nova'. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the Paris resident leans in a more cosmic direction, with a reworked groove and spacious rhythmic core. Vocal delays and astral arps sit atop a layer of tonal tension, perfectly setting up an expansive break and foreboding finale. An inspired remix from Wielki which caps off another excellent offering from Tash's Movement Recordings. Don't miss it.

Release Info: 
Rising from the storied history of Movement is a new concept imprint 'Ãstrαλ'. Meaning 'of the stars' - Astral Records can be thought of an ecstatic, mystical out-of-body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in an astral body onto 'higher' realms. A fitting description for the musical blueprint of the label which looks to showcase the best in contemporary melodic house and techno.

Holding down the AandR duties is long-time Movement Recordings artist Paul Anthonee who has been operating at the heart of the genre since it's early beginnings. In addition to an extensive history with the Greek imprint, the Cyprus based producer has also showcased his music via Beatfreak Recordings, Lost On You, Parquet, Steyoyoke and Suara. It seems only fitting then that Astral's inaugural release comes courtesy of Paul himself who presents his most anticipated project to date 'A Word Beyond'.

Spread across four tracks it's the mystical, peak time vibes of 'Cukan' which sets the tone for the release. Bulbous beats, charged rhythms and striking effects begin the seven minute journey. Senses heighten as choir-like pads and atmospheric swells unite across a devilish first act. Heady modulation delights throughout the main break, flowing through a stimulating band of quirky hooks and unpredictability, before rising to a gaseous crescendo and driving final movement.

Continuing with the cosmic ethos of the EP is the more emotive yet equally powerful 'Matterna'. Anchored by a tight, rippling groove the energy is palpable from the outset. Ethereal phrasing and fiery percussion deliver dynamic moments early, as timely effects add depth and a rare ravey tension. Carrying into the second act, the otherworldly lead descends over a cavernous centrepiece, elevating mood before a wave of effects launches you into euphoria's top floor.

Marking the release's halfway point is the commanding 'Virgo'. Built on a backbone of tough beats and a crunchy groove, its ghostly nature is alluring from the start. Tranquil yet energetic, fragmented melodies and percussive flurries add dynamic splashes as momentum builds across the first act. The narrative shifts during the break with a further lean into ethereal territory, bringing arcane moments, before a timely drop transfers energy into an exhilarating finale. Adding further complement to its predecessor's is the final selection 'Kamara' with it's enlightening, psychedelic presence.

Another heady creation from Paul which not only aims squarely at the dance floor but rounds out the first Astral offering in fine style, with early support by BLANCAh, EdOne, Paul Angelo and Don Argento, Nohak, ao. Don't miss it.

Wielki is a French electronic music DJ and producer whose approach to melodic techno is laced with atmospheric and dark undertones.
 
Classically piano-trained, Wielki was introduced to electronic music at a very young age through the compositions of Jean-Michel Jarre and Eric Serra. He later on started expressing a keen interest towards the underground culture and lists Stephan Bodzin and Vitalic as some of his main influences. Passionate about ancient history, Wielki conveys an intense, martial and epic dimension to his music. Constructed in a cinematic manner, his tracks always tell a story, oscillating between pure energy and melancholy.

His debut EP “Empire” released on Way Of House and Armada Electronic Elements was widely-acclaimed. Then he was subsequently part of Joris Delacroix’s nationwide “Night Visions” tour as the supporting act, which gave him the opportunity to perform his first live acts. “Sky’s Only A Memory”, “Contemplation”, “Talisman” and even “Imagine” continue his captivating and melodic journey.
