Combining beats from a legendary Ace Tone drum machine, quiet electric guitar layers and subtle acoustic percussion, its 7 tracks create relaxing dreamy landscapes for the listener to escape into.

The music on Raíz is driven by soft riffs that develop organically and work as mantric loops, seasoned with deep reverbs that convey a retro vibe, and spatial backgrounds reminiscent of ambient music.

A song about immensity and nature. Written while camping in Yellowstone, where nature is overwhelming and the continuity between the Earth and the galaxy is so evident.

Milky Way

Last March, Wiki got stuck in Buenos Aires, right after visiting the rural town of Baradero. The strict lockdown, the sudden shift from summer to fall and the feeling of isolation shaped the song.

Baradero

Named after one of Wiki’s favorite surf spots in Santa Cruz the track references dub sounds with its deep delays, reverbs and melodica.

Big Sur

The Ace Tone drum machine provided the basis with its stock bossa nova pattern that opened the door to the exotica genre. The addition of acoustic percussion and a whistle gives the song its own sound.

Hollywood

Came out of playing with a drum machine while processing the news he was going to be a father. “Raíz” is root in Spanish, the necessary anchor for life, the condition for it to grow, and where we come from.

Raíz

The Spanish word for butterfly. The groundwork for this composition kicked off the research for a new sound and experimentation with guitar arpeggios and phrasing.

Mariposa

Wiki Chaves captures his world through instrumental pieces influenced by electronic, ambient and organic music, mainly using guitars and beats.

His songs are inspired by his travels and experiences around the globe. Furthermore, they trace a sort of personal map that refers not only to places, but also to feelings anchored in moments, the open road, national parks and wild beaches.
