"The lyrics to Happy came about differently than any song I have written before. One day while driving in Los Angeles with my wife we were talking about a person's natural disposition. She labeled me an eternal optimist. I thought about that for a second before I replied that this world is hard on artists. In my 35 year music career starting in the late 70's in San Francisco and leading up until now that I had seen so many of my great musician friends slip away due to aids, drugs, car accidents, suicide and even santaria but that I had decided I was gonna be happy. My wife was moved by this and insisted I make a song out of it. 

I've attended many funerals in my life and I always think the same thing: Any day above ground is a good day."

"Moodfamily’s favourite four-piece returns home after many journeys.
Impatient, as we are, we had to hear their stories. Skillfully combining influences, sounds and experiences from east and west, they translated their stories to a new EP, oozing with drama, melancholy and determination.

The EP describes itself as the soundtrack for an adventure to mysterious outskirts around the globe, starting with 'Whale Parade'. This prelude brings you to a hidden land after wandering through forests for many months. Guitar, piano and percussion gently move in and carry you away. By the second track, All Day I Zama, a slow beat dictated by a banket of percussion evolves to a vigorous and groovy track with moaning vocals as the main theme.

In title track Gold Town, you will settle yourself in a covered wagon, heading for dodgy settlements on a misty mountain range, accompanied by a grieving trumpet.

As the wagon slows to a crawl, Ghajar emerges, a downtempo emotion-filled song, where the piano and a scorching synth interchange melodies and tales."

The long awaited first release of Stavroz on Denature Records has arrived! This 5-track EP starts with "Zorrow". This track sounds like an invitation to wander and get lost in the jungle. By the second track, 'Perron 11' the tempo gets more vigorous opening the way to the main track 'Kasambila' and its enchanting ethnic vibes. On the other side of the EP, 'Xs Pls' (pronounce it Extra Small Please) has this unique instrumental groove that the four-piece band masters so well. The EP ends with the title 'It was All A Ruse', a melancholic ballad through mystical lands.

Hi everyone!

As you probably noticed - I've been silent for a few years. To be honest, I had to put on hold my music career and focus more on day to day life, which I had to organize properly. Luckily - I've managed to it. I'm healthy, I have a beautiful wife by my side and I couldn't ask for more. 

Few years ago, when I was more "active" as a producer, I've tried really hard to make a living from music. Maybe I've tried too hard as nothing came up from it. My financial situation was really bad back then, I was super stressed and frustrated, I didn't know what I'm doing wrong and... well... real life caught me. I've had to look at my life and make some choices. I've had to find a real job and put my life in order.

As I mentioned earlier - my life is great nowadays. I have a wife, I have a job, I have an apartment, damn, I even have a dog! My own dog! I couldn't imagine just 5-6 years ago that I will have all of it. Maybe it's not much for you guys but it is a lot for me. It is EVERYTHING to be more specific. And then... I was just itching to make some new music.

A lot of you asked me during my "silence" years "when you will release something new", "will you play at (name a place)", "what happened, where are you" etc. I wasn't answering to a lot of those questions. I didn't mean to be rude, I just wanted to have nothing to do with it at least for few years. I wanted to calm down. I wanted to make music as I originally started - I wanted to make music because I wanted to, not because I needed to earn money. I wanted to be true to myself once again. Start fresh.

Well - I'm currently very busy in the "studio". I'm making a lot of music, I've made tons of projects. And I'm doing it because I want to, not because I need to.

And it feels wonderful.

I'll have some great news for you soon. Meanwhile - I wanted to thank you. Thank you for your support even when I was silent, thank you for those messages, those questions, all of them, thank you for those YouTube comments, thank you for all kind words which I've heard even when I wasn't making any music.

As a gift (and also as an apology) - I wanted to share one of my new tunes with you for free. Just in time for Christmas, just before New Year. I'm really glad that I have all of you in my life and all of you just keep me going. I hope that soon I'll have a chance to play some music at your city and then I'll have a chance to thank you in person. I wish all the best for all of you. You'll hear from me sooner than you think.
