Alarm call of the Chital (Axis axis), also called Spotted Deer. These barks usually occur among females and juveniles and are often repeated back and forth. They are nervous creatures, sometimes sounding the alarm at the sound of a falling leaf! But f the call is repeated many times over then it is likely there is a tiger, leopard or other predator nearby.

Wild Boar grunt and snuffle from the forest floor while the mournful calls of Tawny Owls resonate in the tall pine forest. In the background you can hear the strange bubbly trill of the Eurasian Nightjar. Recorded in the Serrania de Ronda, Andalucia, Spain.

Summer night on Hällsjön at around 1:00am. Eurasian Bittern, Common Snipe, Eurasian Woodcock, Sedge Warbler and many more species were actively calling 
through the (short!) night.

Atlantea Series Vol. 2 Mixed By Sacred Seeds

This recording was awarded the Silver Fox 2018. The Silver Fox is the overall winner of the annual competition of the Wildlife Sound Recording Society. This is the long version of the recording - the competition entries are allowed to be max. two minutes long.
Recorded 2017 at the Amazon Refuge Lodge in Loreto, Peru. 2 x AT4022 omnis in an Olson Wing array.

WSRS Silver Fox Award 2018 - Afternoon by the Lodge

Bardia National Park protects the largest area of undisturbed forest and grassland in the Terai (lowlands) region of Nepal. The sal forests and open grasslands are home to around 53 species of mammal and over 400 bird species. This album is a compilation of various field recordings captured in a range of habitats over the course of a day inside the reserve. Recorded in early spring, when many of the resident birds and newly-arrived migrant species start to breed, the forests are alive with song.

At first light, the calls of nocturnal birds, Large-tailed Nightjar and Asian Barred Owlet, fade into the rising dawn chorus. Rich, fluty notes from the Black-hooded Oriole echo through the park, while a White-rumped Shama melodiously whistles phrases to declare his territory. The alarm calls from Chital (Spotted Deer) are a reminder that Bardia is a stronghold for predators such as tiger and leopard. Later in the day, a light breeze picks up, and Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters glide above the grasslands, hawking for insects. The album concludes with the afternoon quietly descending into twilight, cuckoos still calling as the birds of the night awaken.
