"'Illuminate' isi a reflection on our human error” explains WILDES, continuing "It's about recognising (or illuminating) the qualities that make us human, but can also lead to our downfall. The song came from the idea that we will do anything - whether it be good or incredibly dangerous - for the people we love and the causes we believe in. 

It was only three months previous that West London’s WILDES uploaded her debut cut “Bare” which has so far caught the attention of tastemaker radio & blogging media, including Disco Naiveté who labelled her “so special.” The 19 year old, known to her friends and family as Ella Walker,  started gigging when she was 15 after being exposed to her father’s extensive guitar collection. Never has being caught up in a storm felt so good as the one created by Londoner WILDES,who spills her heart out, note-by-note, on her elegiac and evocative new single GHOST. The track, only her third release to be revealed, will soon form part of her debut EP on her label HOMETOWN Records. Furthermore, she’ll be hitting the road in October as she opens up for Isaac Gracie’s tour.

WILDES' influences include Cat Power and Carole King, Angel Olsen, Lorde, Feist, and Warpaint along with painters John Ruskin and Georgia O'Keeffe.

The singer-songwriter-producer’s lush, rich production provides a perfect union to what Stereogum described as “a beautiful voice and piercing lyrics that float effortlessly above”. Like all of her revealed tracks to date, GHOST follows the same high standard. Speaking directly about the single WILDES explains “it’s a song about the effects a past lover has on our future selves. Their words haunt us, and we long for their memories to remain after they’ve gone. Even the smallest moment with them can shape who we become”.

She also has her first headliner show in Amsterdam at the Paradiso on September 26th after playing at the Reeperbahn Festival on the 21st. Check out her full run of live shows below.

WILDES, real name Ella Walker, is a British multi-instrumentalist & singer-songwriter from London. Born to an Irish mother and British father her music lends itself to her mixed heritage upbringing.

An undeniable passion for creating vast soundscapes, Ella's music is both dramatic and beautiful, reflective of her childhood summers spent running wild in the Irish countryside and echoes the expansive sound like that of Florence and The Machine or The XX. 

After putting up her first song 'Bare', WILDES garnered overwhelming support online, shooting to #6 in the Spotify Global viral chart and subsequently grabbing the attention of BBC Radio 1 DJ Phil Taggart and Grammy Award-winning producer Brian Burton (Danger Mouse). Danger Mouse went onto sign her, becoming Ella's publisher and mentor. The song has since featured on multiple soundtracks and generated millions of streams worldwide.

Since then WILDES has been refining her sound, working closely with award winning producer Catherine Marks (Foals, Wolf Alice, Manchester Orchestra, The Killers), fusing her indie-folk songwriting with bold cinematic soundscapes.
